  1. Time to revive this old thread, since I eventually switched to Linux! Successfully, this time. I installed Linux Mint 19.3 Xfce and managed to make it work as I wanted. This version offers NVidia drivers for my graphic card which solves many problems I had in the past. Now everything I could do under Windows 7, I can do under Linux! I can use Unity to make my game almost in the same conditions I could under Windows 7, I have a slight overheating problem with it though. I followed a tutorial about how to limit computer overheating problems with Linux and added the recommended tools (TLP, Thermaid and CPUfreq) and I'm happy with them. The tutorial is here. As for the overheating problem with Unity, I can start an additional fan by pressing a button on the keyboard; I don't like it much to use that button but it's far better than having to rely on fans that I cannot control directly. That's what I like in the MSI computers. I'm getting used to it slowly but I'll make it eventually: After struggling with the settings, I eventually managed to have my main programs start centred on the screen. The settings was not clear at first sight, which is why it took me several days to get it. The trick is setting "Minimum size of windows to trigger smart placement" to "large", the default setting being "small" and selecting "At the centre of the screen". I was missing a clock that could be installed on the desktop, I found one today: Time Zone Clock (aka Cairo-Clock), link to the developer's site. The store offers a wide range of apps to use, among them a vast quantity of games: Linux Mint also offers nice customization for their environment allowing to choose different windows themes, light and dark. I easily found the right look for my installation. I also spent part of yesterday evening searching for background images and here is my desktop today: Looks like I'm on the right track now. Here are my computer specifications:
  2. It's extended copyright, sort of, by Zenimax (that owns Bethesda); quoting Zenimax Terms of Service, paragraph D. Game Mods: If the developer of the mod is also its owner, the developer has copyright on it.
  3. Did you try the files I uploaded here and the tutorial I wrote here? Last time I tried the CK for the special edition it couldn't generate the LOD; was this fixed?
  4. It looks like you wrote your script backwards. Let's see this. This should be good: if (CW01A.IsCompleted()) npcname.RemovefromFaction(CurrentFollowerFaction) npcname.AddToFaction(MQ101StormcloakFaction) endIf How do you define npcname? You have excellent reference pages: about Papyrus functions in general here: https://www.creationkit.com/index.php?title=List_of_Papyrus_Functions about conditions functions here: https://www.creationkit.com/index.php?title=Category:Condition_Functions about events here: https://www.creationkit.com/index.php?title=Event
  5. Off my head, you need to set the walls that have windows "Emission" to exterior lighting and choose the weather accordingly to the place where your house is. Sorry, I've done that a long time ago, my memory is a bit weak. You can download my Whitewater farm mod and take a look if you want.
  6. I'm obsessed with the idea of making my own game engine. I understand that it's going to take a lot of time and learning but it would feel so good to make something from scratch instead of using something that was made by others!

How proud of myself I would be if I managed to do that! :D

But, just think how much we would all love you. :D

You could give beth a run for their money. I don't think that would hurt any feelings either.

Oh, that's nice! :D But I'm way far from being hired by anyone.

  7. Second day without visiting Bethesda.net, I don't even miss it.

It's not so much the change in the forums than in the change in "spirit". Bethesda has become a monster; it's no longer adapted to people, their products are cut for anonymous "players", preferably rich and not too demanding. Very sad.

I haven't been there the whole week for now. I'm pretty sure nobody misses me either!

Yeah, that trend started with Oblivion, and has only gotten worse...... They have become 'corporate'.... Which I don't see as a 'good thing'....

It's probably what they wanted all along, getting big. I'm afraid they are like the frog who wanted to be bigger than the cow...

  8. Not that expensive in fact. Is it a desktop or a laptop? My laptop is two year old, cost me more and is less performant than your new build.
  9. How much did this cost you? Not morbid curiosity on my side but I'd like to compare what you say about performance and the price you had to pay for it.
  10. Not everyone can use console commands; they are irrelevant.
  11. Thank you for telling me something I've known for a long time. I said "You cannot use the existing fast travel system to fast travel into an interior cell." The existing fast travel system has nothing to do with console commands.
  12. I don't know much about your tastes in video gaming but there are some games around you may not have played yet. What about old games? No fancy textures, lots of text to read, top down, and the like? The first video games I ever played were the Jeff Vogel's Avernum series and I loved it so much that I bought it again recently. The whole series of games was remade but I wanted the original versions, the one I fell in love with back then, and I found them on GOG. The seven games are available under the title Avernum: The Complete Saga; you won't need to buy the series that are listed at the bottom of the page. And the price should please you! Jeff Vogel committed other games that are also available on GOG, here. I hope this helps.
  13. You must start the game to be able to access the mods on the menu page.
  14. Ugh, never had these problems... Do these trees belong to the original game? About the generated textures, did you move them to Data/Textures?
  15. Now that I think of it, I think you must extract the string files that are in the .bsa.
  16. Yeah, localisatoin problems are a very common issue. Unfortunately, I don't remember how to fix it. Search the web and you'll find the answer.
  17. You must use the original of your plugin to carry on working on it in the CK for SSE, not the copy you used to make the LOD with the old CK. And once your LOD files are ready, just trransfer them from the old Skyrim directory to the SSE directory, each at the same place.
  18. Here is the link to the files on my OneDrive, if the link here doesn't work: https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ap1XqL-YTdfNbq7H3UqK39IOvo0
  19. No, it seems to be a new thing. @DarkRider will have to take a look. Thanks for reporting. In the meantime, I'm going to upload the file on my one drive; give me some time. Yes, of course, as long as you no longer modify the world space for which you created the lod. It's better to generate the lod when the mod is entirely finished but generating the lod being just using the content of the plugin itself and not modifying it, you can carry on working on it afterwards. Don't forget to use a copy of the plugin to make the lod and then carry on working on it with the original.
  20. The tutorial is the same but you must use it with the original CK. Generating LOD with the new CK is broken.
