  1. Two new resources released on nexus Mesoamerican Shield Resource http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=31632 Awesome Book Resources http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=31649
  2. is balancing school and everything else

  3. Thanks for the welcome, Max. I was actually on tesalliance for a short time last fall, but school quickly overwhelmed my sensibilities. But I am back, for now. XD

  4. Okay, so this is in a planning stages, but I would be interested to know if I can do one or both of the following: 1. Would it be possible to create a Creature or NPC that was only weak to its own attack (reflected back at it, of course)? a) One possible solution would be to make it weak to its own attack type. However, I don't know if there have been any attempts to create a new attack/spell type? In this case the spell type would have to be unique, as we don't want the player to have an attack that is powerful against it. We want to emphasize spell reflection as the key point in victory here. b) Another possible solution would be to script a spell that does different effects to different targets. Any other target it would do a certain effect. But to one particular target (itself) it does something entirely different. 2. Would it be possible to get the creature/NPC's spells to work only if the player is facing the creature/NPC? a) This seems more possible, since there is a GetLOS function. Need further clarification on this though.
  5. This should be a perfect companion to the play-as-a-goblin mod when it comes out. EDIT: Question. Your fifth picture, One of the Gang, on Tesnexus, what mod is that which displays your hunger, thirst, and encumbrance?
  6. Congrats on getting command over the Minstrel's of Cyrodiil project! I'm sure it'll add only good things to your mod. Still rooting for you!
  7. I thought that the demo video was good. Pretty straight forward and clear. Though I don't think I quite understand what "professions" does. Is that just for role-play, or does it increase stats and/or add items to your inventory? On another note...I think this mod is amazing. I'm looking forward to possibly matching this with Kvatch Rebuilt. Though I think that mod adds characters, so it would be a little bit of a throw-off. Of course, I can dream in my hearts of hearts that you'd make a sequel... And was it ever decided how the player would begin the main quest? Oh, never mind. I can see now that it states you have multiple options. Good.
  8. I'm still confused as to what Baliwogs/Grummites/Elytra/etc are? If they aren't daedra, because they reproduce, what the hell are they? The Daedric princes have played no part in creation, so doesn't that mean that they are not part of creation? What do you call an animal that is native to Oblivion? Also, what about the plants? I haven't heard from anyone but Mannimagus concerning their nature. Are they daedra? Or not? If they aren't, what are they?
  9. But then, if the Baliwog/Elytra/etc are not daedra, how can the following quote be true?
  10. Thanks guys! I'll make sure to check over everything though, for the thrill of a possible contradiction. Just one thing right now, for clarification: Isn't Umaril's condition more along the lines of the Camorans, being blessed with Daedric nature?
  11. Okay, I figured I'd start up a discussion on the nature of daedra, with the intent on finding out what makes a daedroth a daedroth (using proper singular form here, not referring to the Daedroth). Now, here are my more specific questions: Can the daedric princes create mortal creatures? If so, does that mean they have taken part in creation? Can lesser daedra take any form they desire? Why do certain sexes seem to have preference among different types of daedra? Which of the beings, mentioned below, are actually daedra, and which are not? What does it take to be a daedra? To become a daedra? Confirmed Daedra? Winged Twilight--servant of Azura, feminine/animalistic. Hunger--servant of ? (Sheogorath[DD], Boethia[sI]), animalistic. Scamp--servant of Mehrunes Dagon, animalistic. Clannfear--servant of Mehrunes Dagon, animalistic. Dremora--servant of Mehrunes Dagon, masculine/feminine. Spider Daedra--servant of Mephala, masculine/feminie/animalistic. Auroran--servant of Meridia, ?. Daedroth--servant of Molag Bal, masculine/animalistic. Golden Saint--servant of Sheogorath, feminine Dark Seducer--servant of Sheogorath, feminine Minion of Order--servant of Jyggalag, masculine? Daedric Lord (dremora?) Daedric Count(dremora?) Seducer Xivilai (dremora?) Atronach Herne---associated with Mehrunes Dagon/Hircine Morphoid---associated with Mehrunes Dagon/Hircine Vermai-- Guardian--servant of Clavicus Vile? Not Daedra: Unconfirmed daedric relationship/nature Ogrim--Malacath's servant Ogre--Malacath's creation? Orc--Malacath's followers? Lycanthropes--mortal 'creation' of Hircine, masculine/feminine. Vampires--creation of Molag Bal? spiders, insects, slugs--associated with Namira? Baliwog--indigenous to Shivering Isles Elytra--indigenous to Shivering Isles Gnarl--creation of Sheogorath? Grummite--creation of Sheogorath? Scalon--indigenous to Shivering Isles. Umaril the Unfeathered--Of mortal origins, of daedric nature. Sheogorath's Champion--Assuming the throne of madness. The Camorans--Of daedric nature. And every and any plant encountered in the realms of Oblivion: Alocasia, Aster Bloom, Blister Pod, Bloodgrass, Flame Stalk, Fungus Stalk, Greenmote, Harrada Root, Hydnum Azure, Letifer Orca Planta, Mushroom Tree Saplings, Putrid Gigantea, Red Kelp, Rot Scale, Screaming Maw, Spiddal Plant, Swamp Tentacles, Thornhook, Watcher's Eye, Water Root Pod, Wisp Core, Withering Moon, and Worm's Head. Any help, like always, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  12. BREAK:[where my horse] Wow. Good guess. But wrong! Surprise surprise though, I was so focused on my rule, I didn't realize the double L connection. You've got a good eye. But not good enough
  13. BREAK: [where my horse] heheh. can't seem to get past this one. Start looking for things in common with the rejected lines so far. Of course, reasons for rejection may or may not be the same.
  14. BREAK: [where my house/horse] Clarification by donnato requested. Typo or no?
  15. Okay, so I was thinking about donating...but then I thought, why not turn it into a game! Everyone knows the three-word-game, correct? Everyone makes a three-word post, but it must have some relevant narrative connection to the previous post, and any one forumer cannot post immediately following their own post. No double-posting, people. BUT, there is a twist. I have Three Special Rules. These rules are... Whoops! Its not that easy. No, you, the forumers, have to guess what my three rules are. Each time I log on, I will "break" the story and repost the last post that abided by each of my three rules. Here's an example, using one rule instead of three By now, someone might guess at what one of the rules are. To guess, the 15th poster might do this: Hurray! poster 15 is correct! The story thus continues... etc etc. Now, here's whats at stake: Guess one rule correctly, and I purchase a 1 month VIP subscription. Guess two rules correctly, and I purchase a 3 month VIP subscription. Guess all three rules correctly, and I purchase a 1 year VIP subscription. HOWEVER: There is a penalty for guessing. For every three wrong guesses made (in a row), I will change one of the rules. This will be announced. No prior posts will be affected by the new rule, and the new rule will take affect in the immediate posts following the RULE CHANGE. Also, rules that have been guessed right will NOT be subject to change. Everybody got it? If you have a question, just begin your post with Question: or QUESTION: Please, when asking a question, do not also contribute three words or make a rule guess. Thanks, and happy hunting!! The game runs to October 31st. First Three Words: I should pay
  16. Mazoga the Orc. Maybe I have some weird fatal attraction to strong women who break tradition, but my character is always tripping over Mazoga. "Say: Yes, sir Mazoga." "Yes sir Mazoga' "I didn't hear you." "Yes sir Mazoga!" "Louder!" "Yes sir... etc etc
  17. Wow. Thanks bg! You deserve a reward or something. Very clear, very understandable. Excellent reply in all. Cleared a lot of thoughts in my mind. I think its interesting that only Dagon's realm was sealed off. But again, I would like to know the extent to which it was sealed. Could a person, for example, go to a Dagon shrine and speak with the daedric prince? In other words, can Dagon communicate through the liminal barrier put up by Akatosh? This was also very interesting. I should play Shivering Isles again. In the Bartimaeus Trilogy, it is almost the exact opposite. In that lore universe, the demons reside in a void-like realm and hate being summoned to Earth, but are forced to anyway by magic. Anyway, I'll expose the motivation behind these questions soon enough. Then everyone can judge whether my ideas are lore-worthy.
  18. Yes Glaedr, I do. As well as one on the Nexus forums. Only been around for a month or so, since I just took up an interest in modding. I'd thought it would be good to get a foot in the door everywhere I could. Tried requesting a Sload mesh/texture on both, but to no avail. Aw well, its just like anything else. If you want it done, do it yourself. Yevic: Thanks for the story. Quite entertaining, although I would second Glaedr's request on hearing about that conversation with your furry friend. I actually have a friend who thought Furries were the demonspawn from hell (okay, overstatement) until he finally actually met someone who called themselves a Furry. Its great that he has become more tolerant, but I kinda miss hearing his crazed rants.
  19. This is exactly what I was hoping for, oddly enough. Ties in nicely with some of my ideas. I love it when lore and I cross paths. This is still a bit confusing. I understand the part about daedra not being able/allowed/commanded to pass through it: this has the ring of demons not being able to enter someone's home unless invited in. This keeps with the entire conjuration school of magic. But it still seems to have loopholes-how did the plants from Sheogorath's realm get through---are the plants classified as daedra? If not, what is their exact nature? Also, the player can go back and forth through the gate, so its not just a gate to his realm, but from it as well. I suspect that though this may be true, Sheogorath isn't breaking any of "Akatosh's rules" by creating this portal. And these hypothetical rules must have some truth to them: daedra could still be summoned both before and after the Oblivion crisis. But, obviously, this had to be done by the people of Nirn or by daedra already on Nirn. However, here is a possible wrench in the works: What about Meridia's Aurorans showing up in Cyrodiil without an apparant summoner? Did Umaril escape Oblivion by taking advantage of the Oblivion Crisis, when the barriers between Oblivion and Nirn were down? Or was it simply the fact that he was originally from Nirn that allowed him to bypass Akatosh's defenses? We know that Akatosh's barriers don't stop the natives of Nirn from traversing Oblivion as they please. But this second explanation doesn't explain why he chose this moment to return (other than, perhaps, to take advantage of the recent turmoil). Also, in the game it is mentioned that he has a daedric nature...which may be even a larger finger pointing at the idea of him escaping during the Oblivion crisis.
  20. Okay, here a question or two to run past the lore experts. First question: What exactly happened in the relationship between Oblivion and Nirn at the banishing of Mehrunes Dagon by Akatosh? I remember reading on some Elder Scrolls lore site that Akatosh had reassembled the barriers between the two realms. How can this be true when Sheogorath opened a permanent portal to his realm on the Niben? Second question: What exactly happened to Mehrunes Dagon? Like I ellude to above, I'm under the impression that he was banished back to oblivion, similar to how his daedric minions can be banished. Third and last question: When the player is in Oblivion, while a gate is open, he/she can remain in Oblivion. However, once a sigil stone has been seized, they are transported back to the realm of Nirn. In this way, it seems that a player-in-oblivion equivalent to a daedra-in-Nirn. However, we also know that people like Mankar Camoran and his associates, as well as the population of the Shivering Isles, seem to be able to reside there without a gate to Nirn remaining open? Also, I haven't seen any lore evidence that the inhabitants of Nirn can be summoned by Daedra in Oblivion. If the people of Nirn can remain in Oblivion without a gate binding them, can Daedra do the same on Nirn? Could there be Daedra that were left behind on Nirn when Akatosh closed the gates--possibly forever trapped? If that is true, then why were all the Daedra in the Imperial City--as well as others who had come through gates elsewhere--banished along with Mehrunes Dagon? Phew. If you have any questions for me and my own questions, please ask. I know this is a lot but I would be happy for some bit of explanation. Thanks.
  21. Misinterpret it as a encouragement, and then go and get 'em. Again, thanks everyone!
  22. I come from a tiny township in North East Ohio, near Pennslyvania. But I spend most of my year at Toledo, where I go to school. Don't like living at home much. Hate being told what to do all the time. The country is nice though. Don't much like the city. Thanks for the welcome!
