Well some can argue if it looks nice, go with it! I still want spears. That so much to ask?

  3. Asus motherboards are great. Heres the order from basic to intermediate (<200$). Here at Newegg for the prices. P8Z77-M (uATX) P8Z77-V-LX P8Z77-V-LK P8Z77-M-Pro (uATX) P8Z77-LE P8Z77-LE Plus P8Z77-V P8Z77-I Deluxe (mITX) If you want a full board, you can forget about the M, M Pro and I Deluxe. The LEs and V have advanced options that you wouldn't use anyway or rarely. So that leaves you with the LX or LK. The only difference being the LK gives you the opportunity of full SLI in the future, better audio, 2 additional USB3. All this for the same price as the LX, or 10$ less on newegg at the moment. I never owned a Gigabyte board, but i hear good things from the GA-Z77X-UD3H. It might be a little more expansive, but it has a cool feature, a mSATA slot. In the end, its really up to you. How much you want to pay. Compare the brands and make a decision.
  4. Texture Sets. A feature introduced with FO3. This allows you to reduce the size of a mod since you only have to package the esp and the textures.

  8. I know some people dont like Western Digital a whole lot, but i promise you, if you buy only WD Black models, you'll never have problems ever again. A little pricier than normal HDs but the quality is there. If you want more performance, look into the Velociraptors, ive been running one for eight years now, still kicking. Then you got SSDs. That an entire different beast.

  10. More often than not, you might have to make several different normal maps and reassemble the parts you like to get the best results.
  11. Welcome to the Alliance Kate! Great name, you deserve an extra cookie for originality... or is it bravery... :cookie4u:

  13. Did you you Reset XForm your mesh before Unwrapping? That would explain the size problem. You seem to be working with 3dsmax 2012, i havent had the chance to play with it myself so i do not know of the new UV mapping features, but one thing is for sure, no matter how advanced a 3d program is, for now, you're still gonna have to get your hands dirty. Expecting a program to understand what you want and do everything automatically is not going to happen anytime soon, maybe in 5 to 10 years, but not today. From the pic, i see you can still resize parts individually. Also you should look into Pelt Mapping for those annoying. Tip of the day: Try holding down the shift or Ctrl key when using the scaling tool to lock the aspect ratio.

  15. Bro, you just broke the first rule!
  16. Theres two way of doing that. The easy way, and the right way. Easy way: Select Mirror under Symmetry, and move the dummy until you get the desired result. Right way: Delete the Symmetry modifier. You need to modify the mesh center pivot. Go to Hierarchy tab (just right of the Modify tab), activate Affect Pivot Only, and reposition your objects pivot where you want it. When done, unselect Affect Pivot Only. Now go to the Utilities tab (hammer), and select Reset XForm and apply. Reapply Symmetry modifier. Optional Advanced way: Warning, this technique will only work if your model is perfectly aligned with one of the axis. Also inside polys/faces are not unnecessary so delete them. Do the Right way but do not use the Symmetry modifier. Instead use the Mirror button in the main Toolbar. Choose your axis. No clone will only mirror your mesh. Copy will make a mirror copy, duh. Now the interesting ones. Instance and Reference will make a mirror copy that will change as you modify the original. But in order to attach one to the other when you're done modeling, you need to re-convert both to polys (or meshes). Alway Reset XForm when done. Hope this helps, sorry if I made your 3dsmax life more complicated.
