  1. State of the Computer The videocard I have removed and put in its original box for safer transport. Everything else is rather solid in place. It will still be packed in with the computer, as the box I am using is for my current case which is a bit larger then this one. I have tons of packing material so it will be safe.
  2. In what world do thrift shops have LCDs for $20-30?
  3. I can see if my dads work has any extra monitors, though its unlikely.
  4. This should help. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813141016
  5. I thought of shipping it as is, but then i was thinking about it getting damaged mid transit. Ill have to see if II still have the case's old box. I used it to help transport my computer halfway across the country when i lived in Kansas. If it is easier to have the PSU shipped to me then that is fine too, it will allow me to work on installing the OS and whatnot. We can also have a special desktop background and maybe some letters for her if anyone wants to write anything. Its an LGA 775 board. It needs a 20+4 or 24 pin connector, and 2x 6pin PCI-e power connectors. I have plenty of molex converters if your PSU doesn't have enough. Same goes for any SATA power connects, I have converters for those as well.
  6. I didn't want to hijack Lanceors thread, so We can put this here. It was made aware of the situation in which Red (WhoGuru) was in need of a new computer to get back into modding. I have an almost complete system I can donate to this cause, however it is missing an important part, and I am not in a position to fork out for shipping costs. The system I have is fairly decent. It is quite literally all my parts from my last gaming computer. Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz PNY GTX260 216 core edition GSkill 4GB DDR2 ram @800MHz 500GB hard drive (I have more if necessary) XFX nForce 750i SLI motherboard Some brand of DVD drive The only thing it needs is a Power supply. Recommended at ~450-500W. I will also have to do some work to clean the hard drive and get it all set up and in working order, so all Red would need to do is assemble and turn on. So, Can we make this happen? I know a lot of people miss our Guru.
  7. You know, i have a full system (Minus power supply, it died) that Im not using. Ive been trying to figure out what to do with it.
  8. GPU - Old and outdated. Will run games fine, but don't expect wonders from it anymore. Its a re-branded 9800GTX+ which is a re-branded 8800GTX (almost), so its got the power of a high end card from 2006. Power supply may be re-usable if your new system isn't overly demanding. Modern GPUs are rather power efficient. I'm running a GTX660Ti on a 650W, but it can run on a 600W or even a 550W if your other parts permit. CPU cooler is basically useless if it is indeed a 775 based design. just because it fits the board doesn't mean it fits the CPU. DVD drive is always reusable. Monitor, ditto. Always reusable. Accessories, once again, reusable. If you are looking to reuse the GTS250, then stick with either a 775 quad core, or maybe an i3 or i5 quad. Its really hard to future proof a system using a 250 as its focal point. Anything you come up with will be behind the curve and be on the chopping block in 2-3 years tops.
  9. You need to make a "texture set" of your landscape texture, then make a new "landscape texture" with the texture set assigned to it. Your texture will need to be highly faded as the CK seems to like to add its own form of saturation and brightness. Keep copies of your texture and play with it to find what works for you.
  10. I wasn't trying to discourage, it just seemd like a mad dash towards modeling/texturing, and that is what I was advising against. If you have already messed with the CK and know its basic functioning, then by all means, continue down the modding path. Best of luck to you.
  11. If you are completely new to modding, then I STRONGLY suggest you hold off on modeling. For Skyrim specifically, it is a very tedious task and also requires a bit of fiddeling in NifSkope. I would instead suggest you start with modding basics, using only vanilla assets. Once you are comfortable with that, then you can start with more complex things.
  12. You will have to be a bit more descriptive then that. Load doors DO work from exterior to exterior, as can be proven via the exterior enterances into Blackreach. It is technically an exterior, so using doors for exterior to exterior does indeed work.
  13. Rather than duplicate a cell, try copy/pasta its context to a cell you've made.

    3102 Hours of Skyrim

Yeah it does. Not the same as games. Just go to your profile and look at your list of "games" played and the CK is listed. Ive spend 238 hours in the CK.
  15. You mean bits? It has 384 bits of bandwidth.
  16. I dream electrical circuits now... So much research in solar power...

      donnato

      Yup...current tech is fascinating.

  17. Yes I am aware of this. Buying a game (Or any software for that matter) at a store or online normally comes with an EULA that you are granted a license to play the game on your machine at home, however, this is not true with Steam (any more). They fairly recently updated their agreement to say that any game you buy through steam still belongs to them and they have the power to terminate your service and access to said games at any time for any reason. And you had to agree to it to access your games there after. So now we don't even own the licenses for the games we bought as we did/do under the game's EULA. Steam is literally driving a wedge between developers and end users by having an easy to use middle-man. Most people out there see the short term benefit of such a system, but fail to see how this system will ultimately come back to bite us in the proverbial ass.
  18. ^^ that indeed. according to the EULA, we don't own the games on steam.
  19. Ok, so he doesnt want mundas destroyed, so he gifts the last dragonborn with the said gift to vanquish alduin and miraak. So how is he evil now? Im confused.
  20. But I thought you said he gave it to Miraak to help usher in the next age along with Alduin.
  21. you could go into the CK and swap them for the straight black robes?
  22. Ah, so you were talking about actual valkyrie. Well, I guess a simple form would be get a nord and slap some wings on them. As for the abilities, not overly difficult. Looks on the other hand, it would be easier if you had a custom skin mod maybe, as the defaults are rather rugged and dirty looking. But aside from that, they would look like any other NPC with a custom skin and average armor,
  23. Question though... If Miraak was part of his plan, but he failed, why would Akatosh give his gift once again to someone who wasn't set on following his plan? In fact that recipient of the gift even foiled it more by killing Alduin (supposedly) and setting Akatosh back even more. What kind of omnipotent being would grant his gift so carelessly if his end goal was the destruction of Mundas? And why would Akatosh grant blessings to the mortals he doesn't want? Albiet I dont have that strong a grasp on lore, it does sound like an entertaining Idea, but doesn't hold up, IMO.
  24. What exactly is the Valkyrie race?
