Welcome to TESA,
Can't wait to see what sort of mods you can produce!

this looks fantastic, Keep it up!
-
Thanks Jac
That guide is very useful and I have utilized parts of it in the past and more than likely will again.
I've given up on making the game look stupidly realistic now anyway & a few HD textures and such is fine by me.
-
I must admit I'm quite anxious to try such a heavy handed solution to a the problem.
But I fear it may come to that eventualy.
-
This is all useful information, thank you.
I have used tom's hardware in the past, very informative site.
As for the make It's a Dell XPS L207x ...? Maybe? :S
As for Graphics intensive mods, I tend to go for the 1024 options rather than the silly 2k ones. I did have ENB and some great texture mods running before "The Crashening", though this does now lead me to believe that may have been what caused the crashening.
-
Thanks!
This is good news I suppose!
I think I already got rid a lot, if not all of the bloatware, and I've changed the program that run on start-up and such which did free up about 10-15fps in game.
Everything runs fine (except skyrim: see other thread) and I don't have any issues, I was really just curious about all the mumbojumbo I didn't understand.
I'm begining to owe you one HUGE cookie HY.

this is the problem... I used to be able to play for hours on end with no issues and a modlist of 200+.. but now it just feels fragile.. This is the 4th - 5th time I've reinstalled it all.
-
So my "temporary workaround" is still working for now, though I do get CTDs loading outside spaces, after about 2-3 hours of play. ( I can live with this if it's not damaging anything. )
Anything even remotely connected to Skyrim in anyway is completely free from hindering folders, (Program Files).
But the problems are still occuring, the game is incredibly unstable, and some loading screens take around 3-4 minutes, (sit in silence for 4 minutes, it's longer than it sounds..)
This is meant to be a vanilla installation but I've had to use ENBinjector to bypass the launcher issues.
I dare not try installing any mods through fear of triggering all these events again.. :l

What you're seeing is normal and will happen every time you open the CK. These are only CK warnings and nothing can be done about them. Continue on as you've been doing.
Thank you for the swift reply I failed to see until now.

Well as some of you have probably realized, I'm not very good at this computer malarkey, (letting my laptop try and boot from an UT2004 disc for weeks) although I thought I was compared to people around me in my everyday life. But as it turns out I'm about as well informed about my system (which I received as a gift from a friend that moved away) as a plank.
With a lot of recent system trouble and trouble getting even the smallest programs to run I've started to question my Laptop, though ti'm sure it's just me.
What I've been concerned with the most is pushing my poor little laptop too far, as I really don't know if this is an issue, I thought I'd get some advice from you brilliant people.
Firstly here's my system's specs, I've tried to look up the individual components online, but it's all just a lot of words I don't really understand.

Realtek High Definition AudioIs this a decent gaming machine?
I'd like to know if what I have here is worth holding on to or should I maybe buy a more powerful system?
Also are there any known hardware/software issues with these components?
If these aren't very good, what components might be a better, but cost-effective alternative?
Any more information regarding this "set-up" would be hugely appreciated, as from what I can see at the moment, what I have is a laptop...
I'll happily answer any other question about it, if I can.
Thanks.

Yes, I deleted reinstalled everything involved in Skyrim.
-
Well after the initial problems began to occur I turned off all UAC for the purposes of getting vanilla working correctly.
-
Well it seems as though I've found a work around.
But this does not seem like a permanent solution..
After reinstalling any program affiliated with Skyrim in anyway whatsoever, e.g, Steam, SKSE, MO, I decided to try and bypass the launcher. Creating the required INIs, Skyrimini & SkyrimPrefsini, myself before play [couldn't get initial creation to occur through play].
This gave me a good shot at my plan working of the bat, so to speak, giving the game everything it should need in order to run without fuss. This in it's self is just a prerequisite of the ENBInjector. The Skyrim INIs need to be written with the injector in mind. Then using the Injector.ini and simply change the "TargetProcess0 = skse_launcher .exe" leaving all the other process targets blank.
This action has not been required of me before. While not running the injector same issue as above seems to keep occurring with no apparent fix This has completely bypassed the launcher, therefore solving my problem, if only for now.
I can't thank you people enough for the help.
Glad I came to this community.
I'll update this if I manage to find a more permanent solution to the problem.

Nope, it's got it's own Folder on the disk
-
Steam is always open throughout this process. [ I did try offline just to be sure ]
Even without SKSE and all of it's components the launcher keeps starting itself.
So, i'm just running steam and trying to run skyrim now, I've taken MO and SKSE away from the equation, and verified the integirty of the game cache through steam.. and still just going in launcher circles.
I have a feeling i'm going to have to contact steam.. :/
-
Thanks a lot, I've researched a lot of people having the same problem, but whats fixed it for them is UAC and mine's fine.. :S
-
Once again thank you for all the suport,
I've uninstalled steam and skyrim, deleted the relevent files, rebooted and reinstalled twice and still there is no change..
-
Thanks Will
This is the same reason I like to use MO, File Virtualisation or something, I was reffering to the "Data Files" option on the Skyrim Launcher, which should've been blanked out.
I've gotten to the point where I'm questioning my hobby as a gamer! [ ]

Super late congratulations!

Ok, well as the title of the post suggests, I am in WAY over my head..
Some of you may have read my posted topic on the S.T.E.P. guide, well, I was going through it, and chose some choice texture mods and the like (nothing too heavy) and since then Skyrim will not start.
I was trying to run it through Mod Organizer using SKSE. and it has been working this way for well over a year. Though this time it just opens the SkyrimLauncher. After some digging, I found some solutions that might be of some use. They all involved re installing some components, such as SKSE. After doing this, nothing worked. Running SKSE through Mod Organizer now just opens the Skyrim launcher. In fact, running the game from any source launches the SkyrimLauncher.exe and the "data files" are the official DLCs and the HighResTexture packs from Beth, and not the 130 or so mods I was running, Playing the game through the launcher brings a steam noticfaction up, saying it's about to launch, it then proceeds to open the launcher again... I have a launcher that launches a launcher.
So because I'm incappable of being smart enough to back everything up I've had to do a System Restore (Fortunatly I made a restore point just the other day). Only this didn't go so well, some of the files on my system couldn't be accessed (asumed to be my AvastAV) So then I tried turning off/ Uninstalling my AV for the purposes of the system restore. Still not working, so I think screw the system, restore, I'll figure this out myself. I can't do this though..
There is probably a lot more to this tale, and information that you guys needs but I hope someone can give me some advice.
To be honest, I just want the Vanilla game and CK back... I don't even care about the mods anymore.
I'm currently Downloading Skyrim once again, but have little faith it will work.
Thank you all in advance for you support and help.
<-This actually sums up exactly what has happened to me.. :/
UPDATE: Skyrim finished downloading from steam, tried to run it, and it asked for admin password which isn't normal..( I've made sure the compatibility tab under properties is correct.) when I enter the PW steam just says it's already running Skyrim. TaskManager assures me that this is not the case...

Howdy Crackomist!
Welcome to the gang, I found your "wall o' text" enjoyable to read.
Hope you stick around for more cookies..
They're kind of addictive.. :/

Using SkyUI now, it's perfect.
And as for Beth's HD textures, they're a little grimy and dull, they were also free though...
It would seem to me, unless you're one of those OCDers, that the STEP guide can really just be used to find a decent list of mods and tweaks that can be tailored to any type of rig setup.
It's a good guide with some really decent instructions and information for someone as new to this as me. -
Ok thanks, I do feel that the vanilla could use some minor improvement, mainly on textures. Also the UI is something that always bugged me.
I think my set up is capable of it, though not certain. I'll just have to jump in and see I guess.
I really just want to get settled so I can start on CK again.

Hello,
I really did just want some of your opinions (which are very highly valued by myself considering the expertise on this forum) on the S.T.E.P Guide and the corresponding ENB is settings & mods it recommends.
The only real reason I'm asking is because I decided to completely re-install Steam & Skyrim to a location on my laptop that makes it easier to find & edit things. While working my way through the Guide I got a distinct feeling of "Massive Overkill".
Is all of this really required for such Enhancment?
Came for the modding advice, might stick around awhile...

First off, welcome to TESA!
I'd actually be interested in playing both variations of that idea. I don't recall seeing anything like a "build you own orc stronghold" mod, but maybe one of the more seasoned members here can be of more help.
