Strid Relleisel - Strid River Hall in the Ayleid.

Sooo...this started out as a house, gained a ruin, lost the house and has become an excavation now. Depending on feasibility, and IS put this idea in my head, I would like the player to actually be able to "excavate" areas of the ruin in one form or another and, of course, gain 'rewards' for their doing so. I mean, what's the point of excavating if you don't find anything shiny?

Very early stages right now. I have the exterior mostly built. I'm in the process of cluttering it now, giving it that look of being a working dig. I hope. The ruin interior itself I've not built yet. Still percolating that one in my head, though it does now have a rather nifty entrance.

I do plan a quest, still working the details of that in my head as well. I would love to be able to have something that actually looks like a real excavation, a real dig. Roped off square holes in the ground, trowels, brushes, etc... That's the wishful thinking at work. LOL

I don't usually do the whole WIP thing but as IS and a couple others are going to be helping me out on this, I thought it a good idea to have someplace we can all natter about it. and of course anyone else is more than welcome to chime in, cheerlead or make suggestions.

This is, of course, built on the River Strid. Actually just downriver from the Silorn ruins. In fact, you can just see them in the distance. LOL

Rider is my freakin hero!! I have a squared off dig site thanks to him!! It is perfect!! I'll see about getting it in game tomorrow and getting a shot because this is just FABULOUS! Thank you boss!!!!

I was just about to volunteer to model the dig site.

Actually, Rider says the model could use some adjusting to work better for what I need. If you'd be interested I'll pass it to you tomorrow once I have a chance to have a look at it in game and see how it needs tweaking.

ok here are a couple shots of the dig site Rider gave me! I love it, need to have it widened a bit though I think as it's kind of cramped but otherwise perfect!

oh Tools! Well spades, chisels, brushes. The sort of things you use at a dig. Open sacks with dirt in them, empty sacks. Any of that feasible?

It is an open grave from Oblivion, ICtombstonedugup or something close to that. I just nuked some pieces in Nifskope for my use and had it handy to pass to Red. Needs adjustments

Looking great so far Who! Having an actual excavation would be really cool, you'd feel like you're actually discovering something.

With some help from Rider and his CS Basics class I was finally able to change the landscape texture around my dig site so it doesn't look so odd anymore. Thanks Rider!

Still have to wrangle that damn grass back though. LOL Every time I think I got it all...

Ah grass, blessing and curse I am loving the look of the dig site and the ruin exterior looks excellent as well- unusual and unique, but not so much that it doesn't fit in

This is a shot of the initial entry cave. Nothing really special yet. It's the cavern after this that, I hope, will be memorable. It's also proving the most difficult to figure out how to build what I want.
