Need a little help creating a dead npc

To get off on the right foot I'm a noob at this. I have a quest idea that starts with the player finding a note pinned to a dead npc. I started reading a tutorial on making a new npc but the one I want to make will already be dead and hopefully tied or nailed to a tree. Is the process the same as making a live npc or is there a special object instead that I need to use?

I'll need to be able to pose it if possible so I can have him stuck to the tree. I hope this is in the right thread, sorry if it's not and thank you for any help on this.

IS this for Oblivion or Skyrim?

if its for Skyrim, its different from the Oblivion CS. Here is a quote and link from the CK wiki...

Modders familiar with earlier BGS titles take note - simply setting the health of a base actor to zero will no longer cause the actor to begin dead. You must use the "Starts Dead" checkbox as specified here.

Find the section called "The Plan" and it will explain a little bit about dead actors. I'm not sure of any other page for dead actors, I haven't made it far yet.
