Bug in The Horse Seller

Doing the horse seller quest with Bruin. To start with, when he went into the Foaming Flask he wouldn't interact with the contact inside. A reload fixed this.

When searching for the list of things, the Bog Beacon Caps are bugged. The Beacon Caps appear in the location, but the "glow" is offset. The two Caps that appear can be picked but generate no message. l can't progress further on the quest at this point.

This is on the bug tracker, I can't seem to reproduce it as it doesn't seem to hit everyone, so a fix is proving elusive. We're hoping with voiced dialogue it might level out. :ok:

This is a version phantom. The bog beacon was moved (in v 1.0.3) to the location you now find the red cloud in order to avoid conflicts with Better Cities. If you had older versions of RST loaded in that save though, the beacon is there, in it's original location even though the cloud is moved. Essentially it's a dirty save issue. To proceed you need to collect the beacon from it's original location. I believe the original location is behind a statue near the South Watch Tower. See attached photo for ref :down:

I have the same problem as Layman, that Bruin wont interact with the horse seller, but even when i re-load it, it doesnt help. I waited for 15 mins real time and nothing happened. Any ideas? I have the 1.0.4 version. Or is there a way to get my items back from the quartermaster so i can just restart the mod and do it again?

Those steps will not restore his equipment :no:

In the next version 1.0.5 I will include an exit option to restore those goods for premature uninstall. For now there are two options: Console the quest forward or uninstall and revert to an old save from before the requisitions quest. :down:

it is safe here to do a setstage aaRCMQ03 16 and that should suffice to move it forward, If Bruin doesn't initiate a convo with the player he may need an evp done as well after the set stage.

OK, ran it for 26 games hours and no talky. I tried EVP on each and both of them multiple times. saves and reload at a half a dozen points. So, when I decide to that's enough testing and go back to the first save (the autosave when I first entered the Foaming Flask) planning to do a setstage, then Delu talks to Bruin.

Maybe for some reason only the first evaluate package when he is spawned/you enter the Foaming Flask has a chance of him talking, and if he does not then he is stuck in his other AI packages, particularly the 24 hour eat one. Note that this was the 2nd time I had reloaded that autosave, so it is not a 100% workaround.

The quest controlling the conversation with the Horse Seller

aaRCMQ03a

appears to have the wrong script in the quest script box

aaRCHomerInterrogationScript

which of course goes with quest

aaRCMQ03b.

I do not know if that is a source of the failure to converse, because that seems to be controlled by the

aaRCBruinHrothgarSciprt

which is attached to Bruin.

This bug predates any release, all attempts to fix it have failed to be 100% stable save for one, voicing the dialogue. Scenic convos between two NPCs can be disrupted randomly by missing voice files. It's not something silents voices seem to fix, not sure what the difference is. I've reset that scene 50 different ways, altered scripts, changed AI, moved dialogues, when it works 10 out of 10 for me, I update and it still fails for someone else eventually. Until version 1.0.5 or higher, the only current fix if you are experiencing this bug is to console the quest forward: setstage aaRCMQ03 16

aaRCMQ03a is only a container quest for the seller's dialogue, it runs nothing for this quest, and that script being there (while it shouldn't be, that slot should be empty) isn't influencing these two NPCs. The scene is controlled by aaRCMQ03 and Bruin's script. Your best bet is to just console forward and I'll do my best to fix it down the line. As I said in the changelog for this version, this particular bugfix may not show 100% stability until version 2.0 when it's voiced; that is the only surefire fix I know of, but I am still addressing this issue. :popcorn:
