  1. My first step will be learning the new scripting tools while playing the game... and then the insanity. I'm going to port over Heart of the Dead over to Skyrim, no matter how painful. After that, if I have any soul left, I'll think about a sequel... -Middark
  2. here take a third :D

  3. One comment? That's not enough have another! :)

  4. Welcome back!!!!!! :waves:

  5. is back in the modding scene after a long hiatus. All hail the writing of scripts...

  6. Hey all, I know there's no F3 forums here, but I'm posting a request here, and a few other places as well. I've started a Fallout 3 mod, and I'm in desperate need for some artists. Like HOD, I'm going to be using some of the great art already out there, but I think I need an artist for some big ticket items. Anyway, you know I'm reliable about finishing, that's not an issue. So if anyone is a good modeller and wants to get their name into another 20+ hour quest mod, drop me a line either here or at middark@hotmail.com Thanks! -Middark
  7. Thanks all for the kind words! The trailer is finally up as well. I think it turned out rather well, if I do say so myself, although the quality is a little to be desired... Enjoy! -Middark
  8. THE BIG ONE IS HERE!!! The Heart Of The Dead NEW AND IMPROVED, NOW WITH VOICE ACTING! 10,000 downloads. 3 years in the making, But you've never heard it like this... 1,000 lines of fully spoken dialog. Fully speaking companions at the end. Come experience the way HOD was meant to be played... Official Download Links: www.heartofthedead.com TES Nexus Videos: http://www.youtube.com/user/Middark2 =================================== NOTES ON THE VOICES: =================================== - Not all minor characters have voice. I decided to leave the characters of Oblivion alone with no voice so that it wouldn't be a jarring difference. Therefore the countess of Chorrol, her adviser, and a couple of others will still need subtitles to read their dialog. - It's still better to have the subtitles on while playing, as some of the detail text and a couple of minor characters do not have VO. See note above. - The actress who played Kat had some serious things happen in her life, which left Kat with no companion dialog. However, I did manage to scrounge together pieces of VO from her other dialog. It's obviously more generic, but it worked. If you wish to switch her old unique text companion dialog back on, simply open the console [~] and type: set cmPartnersQuest2.HODKatDialogSwitch to 1 =================================== OTHER NOTES: =================================== There is no update from 5.x to 6.0. Too much has changed. You will need to download the full 6.0 version in order to play with the the VO. A special THANKS goes out to the wonderful actors who took time out of their busy schedules to see this come to life: - WhoGuru - Purple_Gandalf - Michael Butchin (with Robert Dorf on technical support) - Dark Rider - Greenwarden - Euther Thanks you all! Now enjoy!! -Middark
  9. Also, a quick update on the VO front: I have a full cast for the main characters finally, and it makes me very happy. The actors and actresses have been trully wonderful in their support and the lines are going great. So far I have: Wintermoon - WhoGuru Inar and Yurn - Dark Rider Dublin - Colin-Man Kat - Purple-Gandalf SummerskyMara - Greenwarden Great stuff from all. I will also have a few videos up later this week for anyone who's interested in seeing the characters and what they will sound like in game. -Middark
  10. Update!! The Big One is finally here. 5.0 has arrived, and with it are some huge changes. You can find the updates at: http://www.heartofthedead.com http://www.tesnexus....le.php?id=21176 http://planeteldersc...w...ail&id=5139 The Full version is up on the main site, but not the others yet. So the number one change, the one almost EVERYONE’S been demanding is finally in. Yup, all three companions now have unique responses to all commands. That means unique greetings, goodbyes, and responses to your commands. I went a little nuts, so there are also responses to weather, time of day, etc. There are still a couple of times where they revert back to Oblivion voices, but they are few and far between. The change was made when you go through the last portal, BUT if you already have a saved game with the companions in it that is far after the mod, do not fret. I fixed it so that this major overhaul will be seamless if you’ve already played. There was a couple of other really big ticket items (No more seams in the unique dungeon tiles near the end, and one of the entrances to the dungeons was moved quite a ways away), and a lot of little fixes. But it was the companion things that took all this time, but I think you’ll like it. IMPORTANT NOTES: If you have either an old version of Mystic Elves, or if you have your own CM Partners, you MUST put these mods after HOD in the load order. I’m still getting some wonkiness with CM Partners, but only if it’s before HOD, and mystic elves will always conflict if put above HOD. The CM Partners one I am currently looking into, but sadly to say I have no interest in fixing the mystic elves conflict. I would have to redo everything when it came to my own mystic elves, and that’s work I cannot take on right now. Also, the entrance to the Savior’s Hollow with Harren has been moved. If you have a saved game where you saved in front of the door, you will get a strange anomaly where the door is hanging in midair near the waterfall. There’s nothing I can do about this, but it shouldn’t break the game. Just enter the door and progress through the dungeons. So enjoy! Ver 5.0 HOD Partners MAJOR overhaul: - Follow and relax now works. - Unique dialog is now implemented for each HOD Partner. This new dialog does not affect other CM Partners. - HOD Partners were not "reloading" when loading into a new level. (which fixes the double face bug). Now they do. - Gave Kat some armor at the end. Kinda nice to have. Other Changes: - MAJOR CHANGE: Moved Harren's Cave (Savior's Hollow) entrance to a better place, where Y-Leez won't get stuck. - Changed Inar's speech about page-line-letter to page-line-character, including spaces. - Spelling: After getting book, pop-ups said "alter" and "WIth". - Another "Alter" in the pedestal texts in Dagoth Ur. - Took out extra health check. Seems to messing with a few people's machines. - Replaced ending white king armor with normal armor with no curse. Script was getting stuck sometimes. - Made it so you cannot litter the World of the Dead with Hearts. - Fixed a bug where Kat might not give you the statue in the four corners room. - Fixed overlap in the end ruins - A strange sleep token showed up in one of the leveled lists. Taken out. - Also took out a debug message in one of the dungeons. - Took out all references to the Imperial Race. - Made sure all the mystic elves like Wintermoon all the time. BSA Graphics Fixes: - Fixed all seams in the last dungeon. At least, all the ones I could see. - Fixed all the Dark UI loading screens and made it available in the update and base downloads. - Made a new Harren's Cave graphic for new location.
  11. Just wanted to say hi. Me, I love the lore of the Elder Scrolls Games, especially Morrowind. In fact, I'll start the discussion (hopefully) by putting this question out there: Which do you feel had a richer lore, Morrowind or Oblivion? Personally, I loved Morrowind. Between the rich histories of the dark elves and their prophecies to the "gods" that ruled the land, I was just completely immersed. Although with the Dwemer ruins... it had such an epic feel. Oblivion, while I love the game, fell a little short. It seemed very standard, with its castles and demons and such. While there was history and what not with the dragon torches and the king, it just didn't give me the culture that Morrowind did. Thougthts? -MIddark The Heart of the Dead Mod www.heartofthedead.com
  12. For those with slower connections, the mod is now in three parts to download. You will need 7z, however. http://www.heartofthedead.com http://www.tesnexus....le.php?id=21176 -Middark

The file can be found at the link below. ********** HOD: www.heartofthedead.com =================================== Description =================================== You approach the beggar slowly, the man’s sickly smile reminding you of the horrors of living on the street. “Spare a coin?” He asks. Reluctantly you toss him a gold piece and tell him to go get dinner. “Ah, what mercy,” the man says. “You might be just the one I’m looking for…” Thus begins “The Head of the Dead”, an 10+ hour quest adventure that will take you across the length of Cyrodiil in search of a rare Ayleid artifact. Visit old places with new twists, crawl along ancient dungeons and ruins, and follow the trail of clues as it leads you ever closer to the item known only as the Heart of the Dead. The basic setup is this: The player is hired by a dying beggar to find an ancient Ayleid artifact called the Heart of the Dead. Along the way, he’ll meet up with Kat, a freewheeling thief who holds a dark secret, Dublin, a dark elf mage who’s looking to find his dead sister again, and Wintermoon, the Mystic Elf with a hidden connection to the Heart. 14. Wow, thanks for all the great support you guys! Yeah, I started as a simple quest mod for Ren and her original Mystic Elves. Over the years it grew to many many hours, dozens of dungeons, and a tone of newold art. The thing that got me in the beginning was that I'm not an artist. Not by any stretch, but there is so much great art out there, all floating separate. So why not pull a bunch together. There's about 2 dozens artists who all either contributed art to this, or gave me permission to use their wonderful items. I wouldn't be any where without them. I'll keep you guys informed about the release, and thanks again for the warm welcome. -Middark PS: Kat is actually the amazing work of someone named Luchaire. I was searching for the longest time for a face for Kat, but when I saw his character of Nina I fell in love.
  15. "Beware what treasure ye seek… When finding it, one sees the truth of what ye are truly searching for…” Summersky, High Priestess of the Mnymer' Introducing... The Heart Of The Dead About two years ago I decided to write a quest mod for Oblivion. I only got to work on it about an hour a day, but it started off good. The initial premise was a fun little quest in the vein of the movie, "National Treasure". A treasure hunt, if you will. So, I asked the wonderous Ren if I could use her Mystic Elves, and from there I was off. What it turned out to be was a 8+ quest line, with more than 20 new dungeons, dozens of fully realized characters, new armor and weapons, and whole new areas to explore. It’s still a treasure hunt, but one that will span the land, taking you to familiar places with unfamiliar twists. The basic setup is this: The player is hired by a dying beggar to find an ancient Ayleid artifact called the Heart of the Dead. Armed only with a single clue, the player must head all over the continent, finding clues that lead him deeper into the mystery of what the Heart is, and what it’s capable of. Along the way, he’ll meet up with Kat, a freewheeling thief who holds a dark secret, Dublin, a dark elf mage who’s looking to find his dead sister again, and Wintermoon, the Mystic Elf with a hidden connection to the Heart. The quest will take the player to hidden places inside well known locations, as well as to all new lands and dreamscapes, as he tries to uncover the mystery of the Heart of the Dead... So what can the player expect? Features: - 10+ hours of in-depth storytelling and dozens of new dungeons. - Dozens of new NPCs with hundreds of lines of dialog in a character-based quest - Three fully realized NPCs, with their own personalities, who might become your companions, depending on your actions and interactions with them. Share their joys and tears, and maybe even fall in love… - New weapons and armor - Dozens of unique artwork, used with permission by dozens of the best modders in the community. Some you’ll recognize, and some will surprise you… - A new home Game Trailer: Screenshots: The Mystic Elves.jpg Portal to Mystery The Temple Beckons Back to the Beginning Kat The Black Caves The mod itself is done and is currently being tested. I want to see if there is any interest in the VA community to lending their voices. Currently I am looking for 2-3 female actresses and 5 - 6 male actors.
