  1. i didn't think spider queen was all that hard either. even though the gates for the buttons opened at the same time. when i mashed each one and nothing happened i figured it had to be in sequence, didn't take me all that long to figure it out. was a bit hard to fight avoid the mini spiders though, but not overly so.

i used to be a student of ninpo (aka ninjitsu), i like ninja just fine. :ninja:

  2. Various semi-problematic Earth Kingdom stuff you may or may not already know:

    - There's a bunch of stuff behind the coast guard ruins where the Black Flag shows up that's floating.

    - The ruined ship as you're going up the mountain on the Isle of Half-Light (xx00a325) has a lot of graphical anomolies. If you climb inside the gaping hole, the interior is completely transparent, and there's a zero-width plank mesh protruding from the cabin that looks pretty awful. If I see what you're doing there, it could probably be fixed in fairly short order with a few stencil property updates on the mesh, though you'd have some zero-width stuff no matter what unless you went with the shipwreck black mesh that already exists. I suspect you know all this, I'm just here to tell you it really does look awful, and detracts from the otherwise awesome atmosphere.

    - There's a mace trap on Earth Kingdom level 1. I couldn't get the left-hand side of it to trigger for the life of me. Walked around on it all day, and nothing. Right-hand side is fine.

    - So, rock spiders. Apparently don't do any damage? Queen was slightly dangerous, hurt me a little, but the large and small rock spiders couldn't hurt me at all, nor could they so much as hit me despite making the attack animation. Stood there naked for a while, nada. I was pretty much ok with that because the big ones have stupid huge amounts of hp (I broke 3.5 weapons just getting to the queen), but this didn't seem to be working like it ought. I don't have any abilities that would really account for this, and everything ELSE kills me just fine, so, er, uh.

    - There's a room on level 2 that's a web maze. Which, leaving aside the idea that webs with collision was really confusing and not in line with any other webs ever, there's also a couple of rock spiders in there AND an Ayleid killer stone that's a 2 shot kill with no good way to dodge it. May just be me, but this seemed a little excessive, and I had to tgm through it even after I figured the maze part out because I just couldn't dodge fast enough (especially while fighting million hp spiders), and anyway it shot me through a pillar at least twice.

    - There's also a bunch of rotated cave pieces in at least that room if not a bunch of others, which leads to other visual problems, but.

    - Speaking of the queen, a couple things. First, boy would it have been nice to know I had to mash those buttons in order, and in the opposite order than I was trying before I got trapped in one of those short hallways with the queen. Second, yeah, turns out you can get trapped in one of those short hallways with the queen and have to tcl yourself out. Might be worth looking into replacing those with alcoves, because if you're in there long enough, the game WILL move the queen in there with you, and sad times will be had by all.

    Burning spiders FTW, however.

    - On a pure curiosity note, when I got the earth stone and was heading back, was the way I was supposed to go leaping off the bridge into the river? Couldn't see a better way, and it worked, so. Also, is there supposed to be a road in the non-mountain parts? There was some indication that there should've been, but it was all covered in grass, so I wasn't sure if that was by design or just grass getting out of control again.

All of that aside, sweet dungeon. Nice atmosphere. Quite enjoyed the romp, even if my weapon and armor repair bill is going to be astronomical.

oddly enough i didn't notice these bugs (the spiders didn't even hit me, i'm good at evading blows, spells & arrows to a lesser extent), i didn't have too much trouble with the dungeon either. it was quite hard, however not... um, overdone. i guess that's the word i'm looking for. you want hard, try escorting the priests through the shadowfang keep area, with extra werewolves as part of legends from the north & extra werewolf spawns from curse of hircine, that was crazy hard. (took me like 9 tries)

  3. Alas.

Actually, it was kind of cool. :P

Ah, yes. So, I have the letter, read it, and Bruin's still going on about looking for clues, nor did I see any kind of journal update after having read it. The letter apparently marked somewhere on my map, which would be great except I have something like 30 places marked on my map but not yet traveled to, so I have no idea which one it is.

    So, er, help?

if i recall (and it's the right part in the quest) it's near the elsweyr border, can’t recall exactly where. hag on i'll check. has he left you to gumshoe on your own yet?

    ---edit

no, i'm totally wrong. (that's just where i started looking) what part of spies like us are you on? i'm not sure i'm on the same page anyway.

---edit#2 spelling (it's nearly 4am here. been up all night.

  4. a thought just occurred to me. does RST end when you reach the rank of blademaster? or does it continue a bit? i'd actually like to do a few quests with my apprentice. i just wasn't sure if the story line continues, the ends have been fairly well tied, from a plot standpoint. i figured i reached the end of the mod; however, it didn't occur to me that the questline might not be continuing because the apprentices don't have dialogue.

  5. i found that the journal entries were sufficient to move me in the right direction, and i didn't have much trouble remembering info from dialogue. and i was glad to not have my hand held the entire time. i miss games\mods that actually made me think, where i had to figure out what to do on my own. (one of the reasons i loved the half-life series)

RST is on of the few games\mods i actually had to use the wiki or ask for help on a forum to figure out, i kind of found it refreshing. just my two cents.

  6. Jaffre always dies (for me) at the great Oblivion gate in Bruma. This has happened with 3 characters I have played. With the current character, I made an effort to keep him alive, but he is dead when I return from closing the gate. There seems to be no way to keep him breathing.

I just started the mod, and Stefan has a lot to say about Jaffre. I can't seem to break the news to him.

usually i just run through the big gate as quickly as possible, like 3 min flat. (my avg time, or would it be mean? whatever).

second thing, keep a good heal spell or two on hand and make sure your favorite npcs are at full health when you go in. (if you really wanna go the extra mile to keep some npcs alive)

    that's all i got

  7. Jauffre died in the Battle of Bruma by stepping in front of a massively poisoned arrow I fired (ruined a great shot on a Dremora, too).

i hate when stuff like that happens, it's worse with DR enabled. if only some kind, smart modder could make the combat ai less stupid. or less unaware. lol

well, anyway; i use some nice OBSE plug-ins that fix that fast dialogue issue. work's pretty well, and i haven't had any issues with text in RST because of it, i guess.

    *shrugs*

  8. i finished RST about 2 days ago. i have to say it was impressive. even though (or maybe even partly because) the puzzles in the quests made me want to pull my hair out at times. i just wish it was longer. *sigh* well, anyway i just wanted to say i enjoyed it. thanks for your hard work, and the hard work of your crew too.

  9. This one gave me fits too.

In the far back room there are 4 murals painted on the side walls. Each is a depiction of each stone you have. The object is to open the murals and place your stones on the pedestals it hides by clicking on the pedestal, but you have to do it in a certain order - the order in which you got the stones. Water, Earth, Wind, Fire. A Dragon portal will open. Collect all the stones again (very important!) by clicking on the pedestals again. Enter the portal.

I take it you got past the CRT issue?

thanks, that was driving me a bit crazy.

  10. how would one open the gate in the tombs of honor? i'm racking my brain on that one.

    ---edit

can anyone help me? i need to get to stones throw but a map marker never showed up and my quest log dosent tell me where to go

as for that there should be a questmaker i think

  11. Actually, I had that same problem during Beta and never did figure out what was going on there. I had to reload a save BEFORE going to CRT to talk to the Oracle, go through everything that occurs at CRT and leave the area to go back to Sancre Tor WITHOUT saving anywhere in or around CRT to get it to continue.

You are using the latest update v1.0.3?

    that's what i did. i am using v1.0.3

  12. as for the foaming flask convo not starting, try turning on general subs in the gameplay options menu, worked for me.

    my bug

i am near the end of the main quest (i think), just got the fire stone, i'm at cloudruler and my saves keep crashing just after loading, when the the next section of the mq starts, after i talk to oracle. or if i load a save before that point the game crashes when i exit the CRT interior after the chat with the oracle.

am i the only one having this issue? I suppose i'll see what mods i have that mess with the cloudruler temple area while I wait.

  13. not sure if this is a bug or if i'm just missing something.

i'm doing the wind curse quest. i've beaten the king bear & guards, etc. i am supposed to open the stalrim tomb locked away in that room right? if so, i can't figure out how. if not then what am i suppose to do? or am i missing some item i need first? about the only thing i haven't done is flung fireballs at the thing.

nm, i guess i missed some convo, must have accidentally double tapped past some dialogue I needed to hear.

  14. I reloaded an older save and played through it again, got farther into the quest and he buggered off permanently once more. i didn't save since that last bug either. (the pain of being a save on exit purest, i am slowly getting better at saving more frequently. lol) so i'm gonna do it again when i get up.

  15. i think i've found an ai issue (i'm just guessing here)

(i’m new to this forum, and haven’t gotten the coding down yet; so I’m going to try to be vague -- without being uselessly vague… sorry)

After basic training, you’re given a new master to either lead or follow around. And he just keeps buggering off on me, usually when he’s stationary or when he’s suppose to be following me. I think he reverts to his daily routine, or somesuch. He usually comes back in a few hours (game time), and I can continue on with the quest again. I’m in the ic following up on the engineering angle. And I think I’m supposed to talk to this master to get the quest update. Can’t find him; I’ve been waiting around for a few days and he hasn’t come back. I guess I could just use tescs to lookup the quest ids and advance that way, it just feels a bit too much like cheating to me. So, I’ll try about anything else first. just fyi.
