  1. I was thinking that the topography of the asteroid itself would keep them on. So basically, the player would have some areas to explore, but the rocks/mountains restrict the player from going too far. Otherwise we would need to create a miniture planet. One thing I'm unsure about is how to retain the day night system. There is no atmosphere so there is no sky in this. That means we would constantly need to paint the sky with a starry texture and leave the sun in the sky. I know it can be done...just not sure on how it is done.

EDIT: The Asteroid will be very big.

  2. The reason the asteroid is so big is because there are a number of things I can do with it. For instance, the trainers can have special obstacles that go out onto the asteroid and the magical testing facility will have to have a lot of space for the big spells like Nuclear Blast. I like that design though.

  3. For my house mod I plan to make a three trainers -

Amaya - The Thief Trainer (No assassinations)

    Vale - The Melee Trainer

    Galen - The Magic Trainer

Each one of these guys will train your character in how to do certain tactics with each of these things. For instance, Galen will teach you a new spell and create something that will show you special ways to use it. For example, the swap skill is a very popular skill with magic mods, so I would create an area where to win you have to swap with characters to beat it.

So far, these are the tactics I have thought of for each of these.

    Thief

    1. Breaking Into a House
    2. Using Thief's Arsenal Gear
    3. Using Magic to Steal

    Melee

    1. Strike and Back Away
    2. Disarm, KD and Steal
    3. Knocking Opponent Off Edge
    4. Bad Situations (Balled up groups, magical enemies far away)

    Magic

    1. Swap
    2. Mark and Recall
    3. Spell Combos: Banish (Paralysis and Invisiblity)
    4. Balling Up
    5. Dodging Lightning
    6. Beating Absorb Health
    7. Televani Lift

So my question is, can you guys think of anything that would fit into these categories that would a fun thing to teach the player? The idea is that I will create special obstacles for the player to try to be which forces them to utilize the spell/tactic.

  4. It could be. Originally I thought of it as more of a magical platform which held the different rooms inside of it magically and switched between them. Then one side would have the rocks of the asteroid on it so the player could enter the special areas, including a locked room.

The idea behind this house is I want to to work for two types of players: Explorative and Achievers. There should be the option of exploring the entire house and all of the different areas and there should be spells and buttons to quickly move your from place to place. The player can explore or actually use the house.

I think if we have it floating it will be easier for the player to see the alchemy tower and we could put the doors to the other outdoor rooms just below it. We would however need to create some kind of elevator. Now that I think about it, we could just use a button that teleports you up and down so that might work =D.

  5. Just explorable space. Always nice to leave an area for the player to explore outside of the house itself. I always try to add a little something for the explorative player. Sort of like an Easter egg.

  6. I was thinking that the asteroid should be a lot bigger. It should feel like a miniature planet yet smaller than a moon. A miniature moon =D.

And don't worry about the armors then. I'll keep working on a design and either learn to do em myself or find someone else willing to help out.

    The columns sound great =)

  7. I'm working on a list right now actually. I'm going to make a chart of all the things that would be needed ranked in order with a description of what they should look like. If you have any ideas or mods you know that have done it already lemme know. Take your time on it, I'm not in a rush and the actually mapping of the house isn't even close to well...starting lol.

  8. I've had the changing rooms thing done on a slightly smaller scale in my first house mod. If it does turn out to be too abrupt maybe we could have some smoke like thing come up so the player can't see the changes while everything else changes instantly behind it. Might be a nice effect. I saw something like it in Midas Magic before. I definitely like the pillar idea.

As for the rotation, I've seen code that can do it for us. I haven't tried it out, but I've seen it in Midas Magic before. Shouldn't be a problem.

So if we have Nirn and Masser, do we have to make a mesh for the planet itself (Oblivion)? We need to decided where exactly this asteroid is.

So for the color scheme: Black for space, Brown for the asteriod, what about the color of the platform? I was thinking like a gray/purple spacy kind of look. Almost like marble.

    EDIT:

I've been working on the synth idea from above but I still have one I can't think of anything for:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?he1dsngxqnh20bj

It's a word doc with a chart mostly filled up. Some of the ideas are pretty good...some are place holders.

  9. I was thinking straight up space with no walls or ceiling. Around it would be floating rocks of different sizes that the player can jump onto if they want. Then further out are planets which the player can't get to. As for the floor...Could be a see-through platform, an asteroid or a simple marble bottom.

  10. Oooo true. Hehe I've never actually done anything related to Necromancy so I'll have to try it out.

    EDIT:

Right off the bat, is there anything that would be a cool addition for necromancy?

  11. Wow yeah that'd be perfect. Especially since I'm basically the opposite of you . I've already made the arena and the obstacle course before in another house mod. This would be a different style, but overall it wouldn't be a major challenge for me. I also just got a link on how to script a rotating moon so if you could create the meshes and textures, I could easily do it. Be nice to actually have some help on this mod unlike my last one.

EDIT: We should put a request out for some modder's out there who can model and texture things because I have a feeling this would be a pretty complex project.

  12. Haha I kind of like the PEZ dispenser idea. I'm also trying to think of things that I would have be standard in every single room like teleportation, butler and a restore attributes/health things. PEZ might be a nice addition =D

Hmm going along with the first idea...maybe a synth? Like if you add idk a carrot (an ingredient) and an iron axe you get a special axe with a carrot on it. Pretty horrifyingly bad example but you get the idea =D

    EDIT:

The Synth idea is amazing. Perfect. But I'm having some trouble thinking of ways to combine some of the ingredients. I'll put up a word doc of my chart:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?n1pape03ode8xnz

The Synth chart is on the second page. Some of them I can't think of a good way to combine them and some are just first thoughts. Any ideas?

  13. Well, I just finished my last house mod and I wanted to start another, possibly more ambitious house mod. Instead of designing it for my character Raine Avina, this one would be for Galen, the best mage in my storyline. By design, this should be a very magical and extravagant house. This is what I have so far:

    1) The main room is technically multiple rooms. To switch rooms, you click a button and the scenery around you changes.

    2) The main room has no walls or ceiling. Instead, you are surrounded by blackness and stars. If you fall off, you are teleported back up.

    Rooms include:

    1) Bedroom with the moons circling the room

    2) A huge alchemy room

--------- I was thinking of a "Gardening" type of room where you select what plants are put in the room. Not sure if that will work yet.

    3) Magical creature dungeon where if you kill the creature, you learn the spell to summon them.

    4) Super Spell Testing facility with a wide open field, perfect for testing spells like lightning storm or Nuke on a LOT of enemies.

    5) Universe Living Room with floating objects (maybe) and comets and other space like objects flying by

    6) Floating LABELED storage (utilizing the letters modder's resource)

    7) Teleporting facility to not only the mages guilds and fighters guilds, but also important landmarks such as Dive Rock and Shivering Isles.

    8) Magical Obstacle Course where you use advanced teleportation and jumping spells to make your way to the other end.

    9) Magical butler which you choose the sex of

Is there anything anyone can think of that would be a nice addition? Even if it's far fetched and probably not going to work, it'd be nice to have some ideas =)

  14. Heh I was looking at my background of Serah Farron from Final Fantasy XIII and thought of Fang. Believe me. It's temporary. I'm starting to get further with the story (I have it all planned out) I just need to make sure that if the player does absolutely nothing, the assassin will continue to try to kill the player.

  15. Well, I just finished my first house mod so I'm looking to start a much bigger project. This one I called Hunted. The player goes to a new city, meets a drunk guy, finds out the next morning a girl has been kidnapped and her house ransacked, finds her, saves her, and is now being hunted by an assassin. When the player saves the girl from the evil guild, the guild leader says that he will be sending his best assassin named "Fang" (That is definitely not going to be the final name). Now it's player versus assassin as the assassin leaves traps around the city for the player and the player tries to discover who the assassin is. Now the idea is that the traps have nothing to do with the storyline. The assassin will continue to hunt the player no matter how far he gets to finding the assassin. It should feel like he is being hunted. Here are the traps I've come up with:

    1) The player will get an informant on the assassin who is a bartender. The bartender makes the player pay for information. The assassin will bribe the bartender to tell him that his house was said to be up in the forest in some small shack. The shack is booby trapped.

    2) The player will discover the assassin's fake name, search for the house in the city and try to find information in the house. When the player finds a note written about the assassin it will say something along the lines of "Gatcha" and the house will light on fire.

    3) The game will track which locations the player visits the most and leave traps there.

    4) There are concerts every week on fridays in the city. There will be assassination attempts during them

    5) THIS ONE IS ALL SECRET =D

That's all I've got so far. Anyone else have some smart ideas? Keep in mind that this assassin prefers not to engage the player directly. Not his style. He likes to be smart, leave traps and hear about it the next day. Tell me what you think about these ideas as well =D

Also, I'm looking for ways for the player to find the assassin. This is what I have so far:

    1. Look in books and make connections (Old crimes etc. For the detective ready kind of player)

    2. Research his name (Find his old house in the city)

    3. Ask around for info (Informants, old members, etc)

    4. Stakeout (Wait for him to place traps/enter the city)

    5. Wait for him (Let him try to kill you and go after him if he is possibly near (Such as the concert assassination)

    6. Track him (Track him through the forests to his hideout. This will NOT be obvious)

Any other ideas of how to track him down?

  16. OBSE has something called ModActorValue2 which allows you to lower the current health without modifying the max health. If you're using an enchantment:

    ref enemy

    begin scriptEffectStart

    set enemy to GetSelf

    if (GetIsSex Male == 1)

       enemy.ModActorValue2 Health -100

    endif

    end

If you want just enemy females/males to not do damage you can use OBSE functions to reduce attack damage to 0 and use swaps of weapons which have either normal damage or 0 damage.

As for making it so the PLAYER can't do damage if they are male or female...Maybe has a script on the enemies the detects the player's sex and puts up 100% resistances based on that (100 normal damage, 100 magicka).

  17. Some people might recognize this from facebook =D

You must be surprised that I'm writing you today, the 26th of December. Well,

I would very much like to clear up certain things that have occurred since the

beginning of the month. I asked for a shield, an fire storm spell tome, a katana and a guard's uniform. I destroyed my brain studying the

whole year, not only was I the first in my class but I had the best grades in

the whole school. I'm not going to lie to you Saturalia, there were no kid in Cyrdil that behaved better than me, with my parents, my brothers,

my friends and with my neighbors. There was virtually nothing I wouldn't do for

    humanity!

What nerve you have leaving me an apple, a lame book and a pair

of socks! What the hell were you thinking, you fat son of a billy goat, that you'd

taken me for a fool the whole bloody year to come out with some crap like

    this under the tree.

As if you hadn't screwed me enough, you gave that little snot across the

street so many toys, that he can't even walk into his house!

Please don't let me see you trying to fit your huge backside down my chimney next

year! I'll mess you up! I'll throw rocks at those corny reindeers of

yours and scare them the hell away, so you'll have to walk your big fat butt

back to the north pole, just like I have to do since you didn't get me that

shield, you punk!! You know what Santa!! Next year

you'll find out how bad I can really be!

So watch your back next year!

    Sincerely,

    Johnny

  18. My computer is an alienware. It's an exterior cell located north east of Anvil. There is grass and trees on. There are a lot of static meshes but not that many scripts. There are a lot of trigger boxes. My FPS is usually about 50-60 (Normally 60). The trigger zone is box shape now but still no luck. You know...now that you mention processing power...my switching targets one (Lots of script power) hits less often than my other one...So it's a processing issue? How can I fix that?

EDIT: Does a trigger zone only work on the first frame that it is inside of the trigger zone?

EDIT: They are scaled down to .29

EDIT: It works now thanks. The more forgiving I made it, the more often it worked. I now get it about 98% of the time which is definitely good enough for me.

  19. I have an archery challenge script. The player shoots at a target which has a trigger zone in front of it. That trigger zone reacts to the arrow, adds one to a counter, plays a sound, and disables itself and it's light. For some reason, it SOMETIMES doesn't work. I seriously cannot find any patterns in this problem. I've tried shooting it, it not working, shooting the exact same location and then it works. Sometimes I'll shoot it three or four times in the same location and nothing works. I've used multiple fresh saves and still no luck. I tried making the trigger zones not touch ANY other object (Statics as well) and that still doesn't do it. I've looked at multiple angles and crossing paths but nothing changes. I tried different modes, but both mods have problems (A randomizer and one that turns them all on and says "Hit em all"). I tried making it so it goes through the entire thing, and also that it is forced to stop inside of the trigger zone.

    scn aaaRainesArcheryTrigScript

    begin OnTriggerMob

set aaaRainesTargetsHit to aaaRainesTargetsHit + 1

    set aaaRainesArcheryNeedNewTarget to 1

    PlaySound aaaRainesArrowHittingTarget

    Disable

    end

I've tried OnTriggerMob and OnTrigger. Both don't always work.

Can anyone think of anything else? I seriously cannot think of anything.
