  1. Thanks Eranyl, glad you find it useful
  2. No issues and a lot of fun so far. I'm not really playing but Toc Toc is accompanying me as I try out other mods and test things and I'm becoming rather fond of him. Thanks Maigrets
  3. Mission accomplished, thanks to all.
  4. Yes, reading that tutorial is what gave me enough courage to try it! Anyway my first attempt was a washout - I moved some persistent objects... having read the tutorial again I now know not to do that, at least not at my skill level. Second attempt looks good, just have to clean it (...shudders...) this always gives me the bejesus. One question: I have two versions of my mod, cobl and non-cobl. I have made my patch based on the non-cobl version. Can I safely create a patch for the cobl version by copying the non-cobl patch, renaming it and changing the master in Wrye? The patch (after cleaning anyway) only makes landscape edits and some path-grid changes. edit. Or can I remove the master references and just have one patch?
  5. I've discovered that my house mod conflicts somewhat with Region Revive-Lake Rumare. If mine is loaded second the result is minor but unsightly, namely a thin land tear and a RR-LR campsite being slightly buried. I think I can resolve this by a little land editing only. So, the questions: 1. What is the etiquette regarding patches? Notification? Permission? Or just go for it? 2. I assume the patch would need to be loaded after both parent esp's? (This is possibly a stupid question but I ask it to be sure).
  6. Congratulations on finishing and releasing your first mod
  7. Ahh. Good to know. I certainly wasn't happy about it. Thanks for the kind words
  8. I'm seriously impressed, especially the auto-equip feature. Immersionists may not approve but I love it.
  9. Pending approval everything is good to go. The file and lots of screenshots can be found here (hopefully). She's a bit of a bodgefest and whilst taking the screenshots noticed things that I wanted to change but managed to resist the temptation Pathing: Interior Pathgrid Exterior Pathgrid It's been cleaned however there is a small tear on the cell boundary. I plugged this with a big rock. Unfortunately there is some minor clipping with grass from the neighbouring cell but don't want to edit another cell just for that.

Updated: Small addon for Erewhon Coblised by request. Adds Cobl enchanting/spellmaking altar and grinder to alchemy area. House is situated on the northern shore of Lake Rumare. Tested with UL-II and NRB4: no conflicts. Minor conflict with Region Revive - Lake Rumare, patch available to fix this. Patch is included in main download files. Only download the separate patch file if you have already downloaded Erewhon. I designed this primarily for myself and as such is rather idiosyncratic. I wanted something that looked vanilla yet was unique and spacious without being grand. Lots of named storage was important as was avoiding loading doors if at all possible. Clutter is minimal. I plan to make the training dummy functional. Until then I recommend Setsuna Dummy Training. A non-Coblised version is also available. The Coblised Readme: Name: Erewhon Coblised Version: 1.0 Date: 16/09/2010 Category: Homes Requirements: - Oblivion 1.2.0.416 - Cobl - Cobl-aware Hunger/thirst mods of your choice Author(s): wetblanket Description =========== A modest yet spacious player home situated on the northern shore of Lake Rumare. No quest or purchase required, merely a marker added to your map. While unique it is very much an Oblivion home. Cobl Features ============= - Well at rear of house - The Luggage - Cobl Sorter cunningly disguised as a pair of scales - Static Alchemy Equipment. Rather than a table, a crystal ball is used to return apparatus to your inventory. This makes it easier to select the equipment I feel. NOTE: You have to have apparatus in your inventory on first use. A starter novice set is in the 'Apparatus' cupboard. - Dinner Plate. I don't use hunger mods myself so may have approached this oddly. Add your dinner ingredients to the cooking pot in the kitchen fireplace (it's a container). Wait for however long your role-playing instincts tell you for it to 'cook' Activate the dinnerplate. Other Features ============== - All one cell apart from a not-so-secret secret area (hint: look for something out of place) - Lots of safe, named storage - Sitting, Dining, Alchemy, Kitchen, Armoury with Loth racks and a dummy, Study, Bedroom and Storage Loft with companion bed - Companion-friendly-ish (only tested with Companion Vilja - she needs escorted to bed) - Flower garden with seat and fenced vegetable garden - Stabling (storage NOT safe, included to provide Cats & Rats spawns and some colour) Install ======= 1. Extract wb_Erewhon_Cobl.esp and bsa to Oblivion\Data\ 2. If, and only if, using Region Revive-Lake Rumare 1.3, extract wb_Erewhon_RR-LR_Patch.esp to Oblivion\Data\ 3. Load Order: Region Revive - Lake Rumare.esp (if used) wb_Erewhon_Cobl.esp wb_Erewhon_RR-LR_Patch.esp (if used) I strongly recommend the use of BOSS to ensure correct load order. 4. Start Oblivion Launcher, click 'Data Files', place a checkmark beside the .esp file(s). Uninstall ========= 1. Start Oblivion Launcher, click Data Files, uncheck the .esp file(s). 2. Delete the esp and bsa files Incompatibility =============== Although I am unaware of any incompatibilities, I would be very surprised if there were none. Known Issues or Bugs ==================== - If using Region Revive-Lake Rumare 1.3 there is minor land tearing etc. Use the included patch to resolve this. -AWLS only works on 2 of the 3 chimneys, I'm not likely to fix this. History ======= V 1.0 - Initial release. Contact ======= PM wetblanket at TESAlliance or TESNexus Credits ======= TESAlliance - Tutorials and forum - that means you DarkRider. Vince Bly - HMTK was used extensively and also served as a good introduction to the vagaries of NifSkope. Thanks to Vince for help and advice also. Meo - Modular fireplaces, room-dividers and pewter bowl prop Loth - Weapon racks which I amateurishly retexured to match vanilla furnishings. Texian - Water statics Cobl - Thanks to all involved and also those responsible for the UESP Cobl pages Arthmoor - Tutorial on patch creation <insertnamehere> - anybody not mentioned above. Licensing/Legal =============== I'd be flattered - and amazed - if anyone ripped this off so go for it with the obvious priviso that you credit those I have.
  11. I'm finally ready to finish this up but have a few queries: 1. Can I release here on TESAlliance? 2. If released do you still require a full set of screenshots? (I'm feeling lazy today )
  12. I'm pretty sure it is a door object, I'm probably erroneously referring to 'teleporting' because of the 'Teleport' tab that all the loading doors seem to have. In any case, adding the subspace has worked as far as following me goes. She still won't use it on her own but I can live with that. It could be due to this particular companion mod anyway. Cheers WillieSea, thanks to you and the CS Wiki I now know what a subspace is and one application for it. I also no longer have an excuse for not finishing this exam
  13. Thanks for the reply. This is a player house so I can't define anything specific since I don't know what a particular player may be using as far as companions go. I had a look at Korana's Millstone Farm. As far as I can tell neither the cells nor any bed are assigned a faction, player or otherwise. Millstone is a 'companion-friendly' house so I'm starting to think my problem may be due to some tight spaces and the path-grid in general. With no faction's assigned to the cell or the beds Vilja did use a bed once but thereafter claimed she couldn't find a suitable one. Grrrr. The funny thing is I don't use companions myself so this really doesn't matter but it annoys me that I can't get it to work! edit. replaced a word for clarity.
  14. I've been testing my house with a companion (Emma's Vilja) and have a couple of problems. 1. Rather than a basement I constructed a loft. To access it I'm using a ladder (LighthouseLadder01.nif) and a collision box to come down again ie. teleporting. Works fine for me but Vilja is very reluctant. She will eventually join me at the top but I'm not convinced she is actually using the teleport (in game-play I've noticed creatures will sometimes magically appear beside you when on an otherwise inaccessible place). The only way so far to get her down again has been to leave the house entirely. My pathgrid nodes are linked between the top and bottom of the ladder. Is this a limitation of the game or am I missing something? I don't want to use stairs instead as this would entail a major re-design of the interior. 2. As I understand it a companion will only use a bed without ownership. Mine, although not specifically assigned, inherit the house faction and as such won't be used by a companion. Vilja has her own special faction and presumably other companions could have anything set. What faction should the companion bed be assigned to? Or is there some other solution?
  15. Don't worry about it. I think for programmers actually programming is what they enjoy. Documentation is a chore they put off or neglect. These days especially, the first thought of most people is to ask on a forum and ignore the docs. This leads to docs being further ignored 'since no-one reads them anyway'.
  16. Cheers Vince. I was planning on making an external chimney. The only one I could find was missing a face (?) on the top. Since my house is overlooked, this was a minor problem. It occurs to me now I could bodge it anyway by adding one of your HMTK primitives. In any case it's about time I stopped faffing about and finished the blasted thing. Thanks for the help and I'll look out for the Blender tutorial.
  17. I've worked my way through the HMTK tutorials and used the kit to create some bits for my house (thanks Vince!). Moved on to the Wings3D Tutorials (using v1.2 rc3) and hit a slight snag (maybe). Session II Part 1 Step 9 - insetting the top face. When I do this I end up with 8 times more vertical edges than the outside: Initially I ignored it and carried on but by Step 31 - rendering, the disparity between the tutorial example and my effort was quite marked. I prefer to believe this is due to changes in Wings since the tutorial was written rather than my inability to follow instructions Any suggestions as to where I am going wrong would be greatly appreciated.
  18. Sorry if I confused you. I should perhaps leave this to the pro's. However your mod will only be dependent on a particular resource if you add it to your mod. Nothing gets added automatically from other mods in your data folder. Adding stuff from other mods involves extra steps that mean you really couldn't do it accidentally. My 'resources' folder isn't where I keep/store/backup mods. It's a collection of meshes and textures that I can edit without risk to my Oblivion data folder.
  19. Yes, thanks from me too
  20. I think that you can safely play with the CS by doing a few simple things: 1. Backup the Oblivion directory 2. Create a special folder with the same name in both "data\meshes" and "data\textures" eg. "data\meshes\CheekasTutorials" and "data\textures\CheekasTutorials" 3. Anything you create, place them in the appropriate folder. If you want to edit anything not yours, save it immediately in your folder(s) before you edit them. I have a 'resources' folder separate from the Oblivion directory to which I have extracted all vanilla resources and various mods that interest me. Each mod has it's own directory so there is no risk of overwriting. NifSkope has been pointed to each folder. I'm free to play and edit with no risk of affecting my Oblivion install. You may wish to consider something similar.
  21. The teapots are lovely but I'm more intrigued with the texture on the back wall.
  22. Brilliant . Looks great in game and I was able to delete a bunch of fake lights I had added to try and get the faulty surfaces lit correctly. I'm about done but the FPS fluctuates wildly from 10-40 depending where I'm looking so some optimisation is called for I think. There's currently a lot of bodging eg. some apparently simple shelves either side of a fireplace are actually whole bookcases protruding slightly into the interior. Your kit will be very useful here. I'm probably going over the top as far as the exam is concerned but, from my point of view, the purpose of the exercise is to make a house for me, the exam being secondary. Plus it's fun if frustrating at times. Thanks for the help, HMTK kit and encouragement .
  23. It cheers me up no end to know it wasn't just me being particularly dense . Thanks for your continuing efforts.
