  1. Well god damn lol I had already cleaned them...made some breakfast and went to the store before I saw this post lol I did make backups though of every file with a filetype of .es* so I should be good either way. lol
  2. Roger Roger I was looking through a link my neighbor sent me as proof, and after reading it with what you said above, I think he is misunderstanding cleaning MULTIPLE mods at once. I must say with just under 275 mods / esls/ espfe ?? lol I am running real steady and no crashes, but the mod manager from nexus shows TONS of cleanings I need to do lol I must say I kind of miss using just wryebash and boss, cause I could actually print that list of and do some research. This vortex thing is ok I guess but I hate how you have to click on each plug in to see suggestions. Of course maybe Im just an old bastard and am not using correctly As always I will bow to your wisdom HeyYou I think Ill back up all my plugins and have a cleaning day
  3. HeyYou, I know I should start a new thread in Skyrim SE section. But just a quick question. Where do you fall on the whole clean or not clean thing in Skyrim. My neighbor kid, the one that helped me in oblivion says he never cleans stuff until there is a reason for him to do so. Something about certain records showing up as identical but still needed. I guess kind of like dirty edits in Boss / Oblivion. The nexus mod manager I downloaded apparently uses Loot, and tells me there are tons of mods I should clean. But they never once mention dirty edits etc. Anyway curious as to your take on the whole thing.
  4. Boy Ill tell you what since I posted above that Skyrim was going easy.. lol Since then Ive had to figure out how to port mods to SSE, change esp's from 43 to 44 type lol jesus christ..if it wasnt for Scotch Id have prolly quit by now. roflmao.
  5. HeyYou, Thanks as always. I guess I should open a post in Skyrim section..but so far mod installs are going off withouta hitch *knock on wood* lol Is there a version of advanced magecraft for SSE? That mod was so damn useful in Oblivion.
  6. Wow still around helping folks eh like a damn knight of the thorn lol Well maybe Ill see you over on my new Skyrim OCD post lol Seriously though any tips for Skyrim? Still use Wyre bash or should I use one of the newer mod managers?
  7. Hello All, I just wanted to post up that after 7 fricken YEARS and 3700-ish saves later this weary Assassin Mage has finished Oblivion and all DLC's. I dont know if HeyYou or MarkUK or any of the others who helped me are still around but if so I salute you all. Having mild OCD sucks ballz, but having mild OCD while ALSO trying to install a STABLE heavily modded FCOM Oblivion sucks even hairier ballz lol I thought Id give it another go this year, as I just built a new pc 12 cores, 64GB RAM etc. But I still ended up having tons of CTD's etc. In the end it was a 13 year old neighbor kid who got me stable. I had already applied all the tips and tricks picked up here but this kid did 2 things. He installed the mods Engine Bug Fixes and Oblivion Display Tweaks and then the pièce de résistance He changed one freaking line in ENBlocal.ini He changed WaitBusyRenderer=false to WaitBusyRenderer=true One of the things that always frustrated me was my system was never being maxxed out by the game and it would still crash. Changing this setting didnt hurt my FPS at all, except when I would come to a spot or event that would normally cause a crash it would just stutter or freeze for a second and then it was fine lol Which considering I had weird CTD's even before installing render intense mods like BC, UL and RAEVWD its odd that a setting for rendering would have such a drastic effect. I felt like I should come post this just for closure and maybe the off chance someone else stumbles on post with same issues etc. Anyway, again just a huge thank you to everyone who helped me on this quest..you are all legends!
  8. Yeah that still makes sense to me. I guess the guide this youngin followed took another view, that if you installed major overhauls first then some rinky dink non essential mod was installed later it could overwrite files etc that the overhaul needs. Since the overhaul is so wide sweeping this could make tons of problems. And that kinda makes sense too lol I had already started trying it the kids way and so far its going good. I have UL and BC installed and am about to install UVII and Advanced Magecraft next. Fingers crossed lol I am researching that now. What do you think about the Virtualization stuff he mentioned etc? Should I bother with BIOS stuff at all? Heck I don't use virtualization software so I might disable it anyway, have to research other things new CPU's have that older ones don't. I am still waiting for him to respond if that is the same one, I wonder if the updates over the years released by Bethesda affect that program at all, like maybe it did work when he used it, but now they have issues. I dunno, but I am gonna try it. If you can truly change your player stats, skills, stats and even loot? Sign me up lol Hell forget batch commands. With me having to do every damn quest 10 to 20 times? I could manually do setstage quest crap and still save a boatload of time. But hopefully it won't come to that lol Good to hear on the 4gb patch. That didn't quite make sense to me either, except maybe the OBGE or ENB stuff. Some mods can conflict with those so I guess it makes sense to get your main install up and running good before messing with external stuff. As always HeyYou, thanks for the advice and help!!
  9. Well, I thought I could abandon Elder Scrolls, but was over at a party and saw the hosts son playing heavily modified Skyrim We talked quite a bit about Bethesda games. He actually showed me a heavily modded Fallout 4 that looked cool, not that I have ever been a fallout fan myself per se. So **** me and my OCD..... here I go again knee deep back in the bowels of Bethesda lol Now he couldn't remember the URL of the Oblivion guide he used but he broke it down into 4 points. 1. wryebash was finicky. He said the guide mentioned: 1a. Never use a version newer than 296 on oblivion. 1b. Set it up correctly. (He sent me photos he still had on his desktop) I had always just left it at default settings. 1c. Always back up the wryebash data files. I have never done this cause the folder is so huge. adds like 12 GB to each backup. 1d. Always use mod checker. I never knew to do this. 2. Install small mods first, Overhauls etc 2nd to last, and UI stuff the very last. He said the guide summarized it like "save the most widest changing mods for last as the last installed mod overwrites any mod installed prior" 3. Always save engine changing stuff like 4GB patch, ENB, OBGE, more heap, etc for very tail end of install. 4. Use a save game editor or console commands to recreate your latest save but ALWAYS use a new game anytime you reinstall, transfer machines etc. ************************************************************************************************************************************* Now the wryebash stuff makes me wonder because on this brand new PC using my backup SOME wryebash stuff was missing, like it didn't remember what options I had chose on bain wizards etc. I never even thought about backing up wryebash files. Also setting up wryebash the way his pictures instruct, I still have a playable game, but the esps are now different colors, like tons of orange highlighted mods etc finally, I never even knew what mod checker was. I run boss, clean any dirty edits in the tes4edit and then rebuild bashed patch and update npc levels etc and then go. I notice that Mod Checker shows some dirty edits that Boss does not show?? As far as the save game stuff. You and me have talked of save game corruption, but these latest crashes have occurred even with a new game / character. Go figure lol As for the way his guide told him to install stuff, it is completely different from the tescosi guide I was using. Tescosi guide said to install locations first, then quests, then overhauls, then misc crap. I am trying his guides suggestion and have installed all misc mods first and so far I have 0 crashes even after hours of testing. I have went to every city, castle etc and get 60 FPS and no crashes non stop. As far as the save game editor that would rock as I don't want to play some of the quests over again. With my OCD, I already play every quest probably 10 to 20 times anyway because the victory must be perfect in my minds eye. Like Righteous Hitman and Order of Virtuous Blood enhanced, I have completed all quests of Hitman and most of OVBE, and each of those mods has like 15 or so quests and I probably played those 30 quests combined probably 600 times total. So I definitely like the idea of being able to start a new game and then modify it to be close to my old saves etc. I have thought alot about the overhauls /major mods. I am an assassin mage so Magic and Stealth overhaul are crucial. As an assassin and sometimes thief I spend way more time in cities than in wilderness so I am placing better cities as more important than Unique Landscapes etc ************************************************************************************************************************************* My questions if you would be so kind lol 1. Could you weigh in on what this kid remembers of the guide he used? 2. Could you list your wryebash version and settings for me? 3. Saving the overhauls and large mods for last, what order should I go in? I am thinking: UL -->BC-->UVIII-->Advanced Magecraft-->Midas Magic-->Supreme Magicka-->FCOM-->SDR 4. I have only found a few "save game editors" like one here: https://community.wemod.com/t/oblivion-save-editor-works-with-pc-also/747 I have sent this kid the link as well hoping the picture will let him see if thats the one he used. He said it wasnt hard to use and in 15 minutes flat he would have his character right back to where he was before reinstall, save game corruption, etc. What general input would you have on save game editors etc? 5. Is there a mod or any console commands where I can load up my last save and dump all the data to a file or console? Like what level, what quests have been completed or at what stage I am on each quest etc? 6. If BOSS shows no dirty edit warning but Mod Checker does, should I trust BOSS or Mod Checker? 7. Finally, one other thing he mentioned personally is that his bethesda stuff all runs better on his Older PC (now used by his little brother) vs his newest (current) pc. He said performance on his new 8 core / 16 virtual core hyperthreading CPU is worse than his quad core / 8 virtual core hyperthreading CPU. Even though they were both 3GHZ or better CPU's. He also said he turned off some stuff in bios based on the guides advice. Like Intel virtualization etc I remember earlier in the whole saga that is this forum thread you and MarkinMKUK both mentioned older fast single core CPU's usually do best. Could there be some CPU setting like virtualization or speedstep that could be messing with me? I asked the kid if he actually saw virtualization hurt his game and then saw the problems go away after disabling it, but he said no, he just disabled it cause the guide said so lol Obviously it isnt affecting me now with all mods but overhauls installed but maybe because the cpu isn't taxed yet? I just don't want to go knee deep in Bios settings if I don't need to. Anyway that is enough of a novel for now lol I just want to get it stable enough to play it through and be done with the compulsion lol Hopefully I can get there without cutting must have mods like SDR and Advanced Magecraft etc to do it lol Thanks as always,
  10. HeyYou, I have been scouring web for win 10 compatibility problems etc when I came across a forum post about the Unofficial Oblivion Patch. It said that if installing from the anthology product you don't need UoP. Could this be accurate? He claims his issues went away upon uninstalling UoP. I always install UoP. Come to think of it, I had updated that as well as FCOM and BC and UL. Could not having the UoP affect FCOM in a any negative way? Scott
  11. Sup HeyYou, Well I originally went through a guide, but it is offline, owner must not have site anymore. (I started this over 2 years ago lol haven't played a single quest from the main story line yet haha.) But I have notes and even a video of my last install which had gotten very stable in the end there. I was just about ready to begin playing Oblivion in earnest when I moved, switched to a newer PC etc. Now it's all just a mess. lol What drives me nuts the most, is I have tried restoring a backup of a KNOWN time when Oblivion was running great and even that one is now getting errors and crashes. The hardware I am on is even better than my last gaming PC, I have ran the same stability tests on this PC as my last one. Only thing different is last PC was windows 8.1 Pro, this one is Windows 10 Pro. But with my OCD and chronological obsessions I play WAAAY older games than Oblivion on my PC and those older games are doing just fine on Windows 10. lol Like before I can watch the new StarWars flick I have to go back and read ALL the novels and play ALL the freaking games lol So I already played and beat Jedi Knight, Dark Forces on Windows 10 with minimal crashes, only big issues was if I tried to force hardware acceleration or too high of resolution etc The only other thing I can think of is in my oblivion backups I never backed up wryebash folders. So maybe there was some bash tweak or something that got left behind maybe. But I thought any tweaks applied to the bashed patch would be saved in the batched patch ESP which of course I did backup. So I don't know lol Ironically, I may be able to walk away from Bethesda lol Which is weird cause it has never happened before. Like there was a game called Spec Ops 2 thegreen berets, it took me 3 years to be able to beat that buggy ass horrible game, but the thought of NOT finishing it would send me into a mild panic attack lol I HATE HATE starship trooper movies lol but my OCD has forced me to sit and suffer through all 5 of them turds. But when I think to myself about abandoning Oblivion, skyrim and Elderscrolls online I get uncomfortable but not panicky lol This may be the first time in my life I can walk away from something lol For now though, I will soldier on and try to fix this install lol Thanks as always for the reply, you have been awesome on this two year quest lol Scott
  12. Yeah Darnified is espless, or at least the version I have. It is all just meshes menus and textures. The Xul files all come from Unique Landscapes. Now for a moment I thought you had figured it out with mentioning COBL. I did update BC, UL, FCOM and COBL. I tried reverting back to the BC, UL, and FCOM version of old, but had forgotten about the new COBL. However, when I restored a backup from months ago, that would still have the old COBL which was running just fine. Well, back to the drawing board. lol Thanks as always, Scott
  13. Sup HeyYou, Could take a quick look at my load list? Something wierd is going on, I set it back up the way it was last time I played and still getting CTD's all over. So then I took a backup and the CTD's persist even though that backup should have been clean. It's almost like it is getting worse the more I mess with it. Does Oblivion or wrye bash etc use any system folders like app data?
  14. Hola HeyYou, I have always used a separate partition to install games ever since VISTA and all the UAC and DEP problems that brought. I rarely use the program files sections to install anything in. Ironically I am getting close. It is something to do with new BC and UL updates. I uninstalled them *and* made a clean save and the CTD's have disappeared. I hadn't tried making a clean save after removing them, but that seems to have done the trick. Now I am thinking I will re-enable all mods but BC and UL and then make a clean save, make a fresh backup, and then start playing with them and find the problem. As always man, thanks for the replies. Scott
  15. Sup HeyYou, Sadly I have already tested my RAM to hell and back, or oblivion rather lol First thing I do when I build a new PC is run memtest and stress test on CPU for 72 hours. Not a single failure, then at build time. I ran it again yesterday for three passes and no failure either. I'm still researching my crashes and trying crap lol, by the gods of the nine, I shall have victory!!! Thanks as always for your help HeyYou, Scott
