TES4 Gecko: Merging .esps

When merging 2 .esp files with TES4 Gecko it asks for a priority number to be assigned to each .esp. Does anyone know how to assign priority to 2 .esps and if this is the best way to merge them?

The priority is simply determined by numerical order. If you have two ESPs than your most important ESP should be tagged as 1 and the other as 2. It's pretty straightforward. TES4Gecko has never let me down, so in my book it's still the best way to merge ESPs.
