Hello from Old Book

Hello all. My current goal is the creation of an Immersive Reactive Companion Mod for Oblivion; a Companion that notices when the Player gains fame or infamy, joins or advances in a faction, and completes quests, and has at least a line or two to say about most of it.

The problem is that I have almost no idea how to do that.

I have some background modding for other games, and have done voice work for Oblivion mods, but have yet to produce mods of my own. Any recommendations on tutorials and such would be greatly appreciated.

Looking forward to learning a bit.

Welcome to the Alliance OldBook!    Glad to have you here!  Your idea sounds very interesting indeed and you'll learn a lot around here. I'm new to modding myself and have just begun delving into the CS.    I'm a writer for mods normally.

As a voice actor, you should head to the Voice Actors Archive and set up your own archive! We can always use a new face in there  and there are several projects going wanting for voice actors right now!

For your Companion idea, look into the variables GetStageDone, GetPCFame, and other variables that start with GetPC... You'll likely need to use these variables within the dialogue box, to check whether the PC has completed quests, or has the required stat for the NPC's line to run.

Yup, same poster. Unfortunately my new computer won't run ToEE at all, and my involvement in the community faded. A shame, as they were a great crew, and did amazing things to keep an old game alive.

I'm Cuchulainn over there, still keeping active although splitting my 7 minutes a day of modding time is tough. Poke around and have fun, you'll find it a good crew over here aswell.
