Vista hiding my files

Hello all.

I've been having some problems with vista, which I am aware is not uncommon. Basically what's happening is that I cannot see most files that I created when I open the Oblivion Data folder. All the mods I have downloaded are there, and my most and least recent meshes and textures, but all of my mods and all of my textures and meshesd within a certain timeframe are invisible- I can open them in programs, but if I just open the file they aren't there. This isn't a huge problem generally as they are still functional in the game etc. but if I want to pack up a mod I have to manually open every new mesh and texture in GIMP/NifSkope and resave them into my documents, and I can't do anything at all with the .esp itself. Is this a common problem? Does anyone have a solution?

did you happen to install oblivion under programs files? If so, theres your problem.

Another alternative, which I am rather surprised was not listed there.... would be to set permissions on the Oblivion folder within Program Files, to deactivate UAC for JUST THAT FOLDER. Its quick, its easy, and avoids a reinstall.
