oblivion.esm swapping

using Wrye's instructions for his wrye bash @ http://wryebash.netai.net/#Installation, I am at this stage...

Swapping Setup

• The major point is that for swapping to work, you must have copies of both the 1.1 and the SI versions of Oblivion.esm available. This is only possible if you copy Oblivion.esm before installing Shivering Isles.

• If you have not done that, then you'll need to:

• Reinstall Oblivion

• Update it using the Oblivion 1.1 patch

• Copy Oblivion.esm to Oblivion_1.1.esm

• Reinstall Shivering Isles.

• If you have not yet installed Shivering Isles, then great! All you have to do is the last two steps above.

I am at the "Copy Oblivion.esm to Oblivion_1.1.esm" stage, but there is no Oblivion#.#.esm of any type I can see to paste the Oblivion.esm over onto. I am confused...what am I missing.

Incidentally I used the latest 1.2oblivion patch assuming that 1.1 was current when wrye wrote his instructions and I could not find the 1.1 patch any longer.

Those instructions only work if you're installing Oblivion from the original retail CD. Doing that, you get the original Oblivion.esm file. If you also have a retail CD for Knights of the Nine, it should have the intermediate patch included on the CD which is what you'd want to install next.

If all you have is the GOTY edition, you won't be able to do this setup because GOTY is already patched fully to 1.2.0406 whether or not you install Shivering Isles.

I think though that the real intent of all of that is to allow you to have a non-SI version of the master file available.
