For those who may not already know (like me :lmao:), NV is getting it's first DLC this decemeber, and it's called "Dead Money"

Link

You can soon add 'search for untold riches' to your Pip-Boy 3000's to-do list. Publisher Bethesda revealed details yesterday for 'Dead Money,' the first DLC add-on for Fallout: New Vegas. It looks to be a good ole fashioned treasure hunt for the holidays.

An Xbox LIVE exclusive, the new content will pair players with a band of motley wastelanders in search of the 'legendary treasure of the Sierra Madre Casino.' It will also expand the epic RPG experience with new places to visit, fresh things to kill and more morally ambiguous situations to navigate

It will be interesting to see if Dead Money picks up immediately after the events at the end of New Vegas or if the first DLC will take GTA IV's Lost and the Damned route and introduce a whole new character entirely. We contacted Bethesda for a better idea of what to expect, but have yet to receive any further clarification.

Dead Money arrives December 21st for 800 Microsoft points (or roughly 1200 caps).

Edit: Seems this is the fabled Xbox Live Exclusive :hugs:, Which will be out later for other platforms...as always :D

Sigh. "Fail", etc. Not sure what these exclusives accomplish other than annoying a large segment of the user base... who'll then probably forget to buy it once it's released for their platform because the moment has passed. Doesn't really make a lot of sense unless a company has a taste for lost sales.

On a possibly related note, I found while digging around in Geck trying to debug stuff that there's an awful lot of unused dialogue and other odds and sods. I wonder if they're just related to unfinished quests or if they'll make an appearance in DLCs further down the line.

Yeah, if you release a game for all the platforms, you should offer everything to all the platforms.

Tell that to the PS/3 owners that have oblivion. :D

I am not overly concerned about the DLC, as it I play on PC, therefore, it won't be 'out' for me for a while.

There is a LOT of 'stuff' in the GECK from Fallout 3. Rivet city architecture, megaton, etc. I think they just added some stuff to the FO3 main BSA files, and used them for NV.

I don't like it when companies decide to favor one kind of platform over another. It's the game that should be supported and enhanced, not something else. That said, this will probably follow the same patterns that all DLCs have gone through i.e. = huge uproar about PC/PS3 users not getting it -> Beth ends up releasing it to PC/PS3 in a couple months -> huge uproar about it's poor quality, lack of depth, short playtime, etc... -> most agree it wasn't worth the money anyways.

The stuff I noticed was new, although you do have a point and I was surprised at the amount of stuff in the master and BSAs that has nothing to do with FNV: seems a bit of a hasty effort was made to sweep away the unused odds and sods but they left the job half done (if that). I tend to think it's not such a great idea with loads of redundant stuff kicking about waiting to cause mischief; but on the other hand, in some ways it makes the job of porting mods potentially easier, as well as not coming up against the "no using assets from other games" since they're already there. Not sure whether there was any intent along those lines or if it's just a happy accident.
