Convincing mesh to show in first person

So, I'm an immersion freak, and i've become quite tired of my "peripheral vision not being obscured when I'm wearing a helm or hood, so I set out to change this. I've got a test helm (front half of steel helm) positioned where I want it in front of the camera, rigged, stuck in the ring slot, and in game. My minimum view distance is set to 0.000, but i still can't see the mesh in game. I popped into TFC during first person and checked, helm wasn't showing up...Now..I may just be unobservant and somehow my mesh is laying horizontally on the floor due to some weird repositioning system, but Im not home at the moment, and i'm looking for help...as well as some help writing a script to make this dynamic so I don't have to have the player equip the fpv mesh every time they change there helmet (some sort of "Getif firstperson==1.00, or Getif steelhelm01 equipped== 1.0" or something...

Anyways, help would be enormously appreciated :)

If you are an immersion freak, then your DOF needs to be set to 180 in order for helm masks to even remotely look realistic.

Another thing. "Getif" is not valid scripting syntax. Plus i dont think there is a function to detect which viewing mode the player is in. Though its been years since ive written oblivion scripts.

As for the helmet thingie. You either didnt rig it properly, or its too close to the camera. Regardless of the setting, there is a minimum view distance which is still noticeable if objects get too close.
