Resources from other games

Knowing how uptight Bethesda (and all companies) can be about their assets and copyrights, I feel it appropriate to ask this question. Is it all right to use files from mods created for other games (i.e. Knights of the Old Republic), provided I have the author's permission?

Guess that depends on what you want to use. If the mod author created everything (models, textures, quests, etc.)) by himself, there should be no legal reason why you should not be able to use it (at least according to civilized jurisdictions).

I have already converted some of Stroti's stuff from Oblivion to Skyrim. The models were all made by himself so no problems there. I just had to look for different textures as the original textures from Oblivion may not be used.
