You're voicing my exact thoughts Arion. This thing has gone way beyond what I originally set out to do and I know it...My creative enthusiasm is not an easy thing to reign in once it gets going as should be obvious from the disasters I've had already.

And now I'm too deep into this hole I've dug to backtrack or replan.

Since I'm still waiting for what you want me to work on, you can send me what you have and hold on a bit and let me look it over... I don't think you need to backtrack as there's possibly a way to reorganize this where its manageable. I need to look it over and see how things are set up.. If there's a way to get it down where you can manage it fine, if not we deal with what we have....

I think I know exactly what one of the big problems is, resources. After I found out you could drag things from the files into the CS instead of adding them one by one I went slightly resource happy. Didn't consider that I wouldn't need half of whats in there for this part of the project, seemed sensible to have them already in when I got to them...not my best thought ever. Tossing the Link over in PM.

Just an update to let all interested people know where things stand.

  • Arion is going to be working on basic landscaping on the Island
  • Donnato is continuing to work on additional creature statues when he gets the chance...maybe other things too...I honestly can't remember right now :P
  • Lilith is currently not working on anything (for this project I mean ;) )
  • And I am working on rebuilding my interiors after yesterday's wall debacle

If anyone else feels like helping out I can certainly find stuff for you to do :)

Ok, so it has been a few months...very bad months but I haven't gone off and died and the project is still active...sort of. Unfortunately due to a massive loss of free time I have archived a large number of ideas until an undetermined future date. My sole focus at the moment is on the Library. Due to other problems I have realized, the number of books the place will contain is growing pretty much by the moment.

Time for another update to keep appetites wheted :P

Been working pretty much in the shadows with Donnato on things lately. Got quite a bit of work done and most importantly: it feels right.

Unlike every other attempt I've made, every variation of this idea I've tried, this time I can clearly see in my head how the pieces will look when I fit them all together...even when I first add something new to the mix I can see right away how it should fall into my design.

I have also chosen not to do any screenshots of work in progress at this time. I'm going to keep my work concealed until I have something worth showing instead of bits and pieces that could change a minute later.

So, not a lot of new information but the mod is still very much alive and kicking :)

Now we come to the Reveal. Quite a while back now I practically gave up, the continuing problems involved in this project driving me to stop working on it altogether. The ideas never stopped though, bits and pieces clicking together and falling apart and reforming again and again. A couple months back I transferred all of the old files into an archive folder, cracked open the Construction Set, and began again...from scratch.

Unlike before I chose to keep to the shadows as I worked, showing nothing and speaking of nothing until I had a new base to work atop. The old island has been replaced with a new one, man-made rather then natural. The town has been built atop it over a period of time during which several variations were tried and discarded before I settled on the current and final layout. I have condensed the old ideas down greatly, leaving me with a far smaller area to work with compared to previous versions.

There is still a great deal to be done before I can open the doors to players but it will be completed, since I finally stopped trying to overextend myself and actually thought about what I wanted this mod to be. When I first announced this project a few years ago (hard to believe it's been that long) I made a complete mess of things right out of the gate by being more enthusiastic then skilled. Failures and problems and setbacks sharpened the enthusiasm down into organized determination.

This will not be one of those mods that burns and dies, my newfound organization and skill with the CS have already given me a good solid start which can be seen in the Project Gallery: http://tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/gallery/album/366-museum-of-nirn-project-gallery/
