Oblivion Character Tournament

This is an idea I saw over on the offical forums and I figured it would work really well on a small forum here. The idea is that people can input a character, then in one on one elimitation battles they will fight to a final where a winner is found. Although its based on Oblivion, there are many rules changes to make all skills useful in the tournament and you have limited funds in which to buy all your equipment. It will be set out in a standard knockout rounds, but depending on how many we get there may be points in which people get a pass to the next round...the starting position will be randomised.

The characters that people send will be made into in NPCs by me in the CS. Once we have everyone's I will draw up a tournament sheet and begin the fights. The fights will all take place in an unmodified Arena, and are standard battle to the death rules. I will do one round each day (or at least I'll only put up one round's worth of results) and will record each battle and post them on youtube for you to watch how the battle went.

Now this is very important, to submit, PM them to me and give the PM the title "Tournament - [YourUsername]", if you post them in here people will be able to build counter character against you or steal your ideas. If you do post them here I will acccept them, but your only disadvantaging yourself.

When your buying your gear you'll have 3000 gold in which to buy your stuff. Please make sure you've read the rules and know what you can and cannot use depending on skills. I suggest you use UESP to find your items. For marksmen users, you also need to buy your arrows, NPC's dont use arrows like the player, so you just need to buy a block of 25 arrows.

InsanitySorrow has donated a sig bar for the winner. That looks like the only prize so far though.

Race: High Elf/Argonian/Wood Elf/Breton/Dark Elf/Imperial/Khajiit/Nord/Orc/Redguard

Gender: Male/Female

Birthsign: Lady/Steed/Thief/Warrior/Apprentice/Atronach/Mage/Lord/Lover/Ritual/Serpent/Shadow/Tower

Purchasing Gold: 3000

Combat Style: Use the CS to find one. Default will work in most situations though.

Combat: 1 Spell - Full Armor - One & Two handed Weapons

Magic: 5 Spells - Maximum 3 Pieces of Armor - One & Two handed Weapons

Stealth: 2 Spells - Light Armor Only - Completes an Apprentice Sneak Critial Before battle - One handed Weapons only

Primary Attributes: Strength/Intelligence/Willpower/Speed/Agility/Endurance/Personality/Luck

Skills (Pick 7):

Armorer: Armor protects slightly better

Athletics: +10 Speed Bonus

Block: Allows Shield

Blunt: Allows Blunt Weapon

Blade: Allows Blade Weapon

Hand to Hand: 1 extra Spell allowed

Heavy Armor: Allows use of Heavy Armor (Useless to Stealth Specialisiation)

Alchemy: Gives 2 Free Standard Potions of player's choosing

Alteration: Journayman Spells allowed

Conjuration: Journayman Spells allowed

Destruction: Journayman Spells allowed

Illusion: Journayman Spells allowed

Mysticism: Journayman Spells allowed

Restoration: Journayman Spells allowed

Acrobatics: 15% Chance of performing a dodge (takes no damage) when hit

Light Armor: Allows use of Light Armor

Marksman: Allows use of a Bow

Mercantile: Gives Extra 750 gold to buy items

Security: Opponent will randomly lose one item (not their weapon)

Sneak: Gives intial sneak attack of x2 if your sneak is higher then Opponent's

Speechcraft: Gives +1 to your level

Items Not Allowed:

One of a kind items (eg. artifacts)

Potions (unless you have alchemy Skill)

Paralyze Enchantments

Modded Items

Custom made Enchantments/Spells/Potions

Zero Value Items (such as Blades Armor) as they throw the buying system off.

Staves (Staffs) those things are way too powerful

Important notes when making your character:

- You can only pick a journeryman level spell if you have the assoicated skill as a major

- No zero value items

- Keep track of how much everything costs and write down the total you spent

- UESP lists all the items in the game, use 'Find' on the pages to get the weapon names

- No Paralyze Enchantments

- No Potions unles you have Alchemy Skill

- Do not post your character in the thread, PM it to me. Give PM the title "Tournament - [YourUsername]"

It depends how many we get, but if its not too many then yes I can film each round.

Don't really understand the combat styles. I've always left it to default and it's worked just fine. Is there a significant difference beween them?

Not really, I'll grab some examples, but there are ones so that ARchers wont change to other weapons when you get close, and ones to make mages always run away. Default works fine for most, but if you really want your character to act a certain way you can pick another.

Prizes for larger tournaments might be a good idea , Could offer new weapons, or some new clothing items ect, depending on how many people participate.

Sounds fun and filming would definitely be a good idea. Maybe a forum medal for reward?

When I think about it, filming would require probably some kind of info about the appearance of characters or maybe that participants send esps and that could be too much hassle.

You can include simple characteristics in the bio if you want....hair style, colour, facial features and I'll try and make them look okay. Nothing modded of course, I dont want to have to track down mods for this.

Ill will film each battle, and I guess with the overall winner whoever sent them in can send in a proper picture of them for records.

1: All items are fully repaired and recharge between rounds and all stats and healths reset, there is no recharging during the fights.

2: Yes, that weapon is fine.

Okay, Im still waiting on the submissions from Nevyngreat and Glaedr, but other then them, no more submissions for this tournament. 8 is a good round number for elimination, there will most likely be another tournament next month after the halloween challenge is over, so save your idea till then.

Once the last two characters come in I'll upload the results and videos of each fight for the first round.
