Nifskope issues.. window won't render properly

I'm trying to learn texturing.. although I don't know how long that will last because I can't even get Nifskope to work properly..

I installed it correctly, and it opens correctly. I can load a nif file just fine, and I can see all the properties, change the colors, assign file paths for textures, etc. However, there are a few issues I'm having:

1. On the render window, the image shows up as a blank white render, rather than a color image.

Yes, this happens with files I've extracted from the OB BSA.

Yes, this happens with files I"ve downloaded in mods.

If I recolor a texture using Gimp, at that point, it will show up as the color I made it, with the proper design, etc.

2. The render window is black rather than white, as it is in the screenshots I've seen. I can't find some of the options that I saw on the Nifskope wiki when I read it. All of the options I do have are set correctly, however.

I am running v. 1.0.15 (The current one on SourceForge).

3. Even though I set the filepath for the textures to point to my recolored textures, and even though I set them up in the construction set for the biped model, I just have missing legs when I wear the pants.

I am stumped!

Well, I was playing with the background color and I can get that white.. but I still can't get my vanilla textures to show up.

Ah don't feel bad.  It took me two days and three 'teachers' here to get nifskope and Gimp working right for me.

 Glad you got it figured out on your own!  Well done!
